Going to Bill's is like going to New Orleans. It's been there forever, the food is great, and you know what you're going to get...it isn't meant to be pretty or up-scale. It is what it is. Fabulous crabs (consistent for more than 60 years), Steve welcoming guests from his "throne" at the front of the room, maybe crowded, other good food is available but I never get to it. You know the crabs are freshly steamed (never re-steamed); they just got off the plane that day. The seasoning is the best, the beer is cold, you may find a sports personality or two, and any Maryland sports game will be on the TV's. If that is not what you are looking for...go somewhere else!

We went to Mr. Bill's for the 1st time May 2014. My friend wanted to get the large @ $85 per doz. I was skeptical to pay that much money being that it was my first time to try them. We ordered 1 doz. large crabs with extra seasoning (they would have been just as good if we didn't). The crabs were amazingly good! BIG! From Claw tip to claw tip they measured a foot :) And, they were so yummy ~ I think the best I've ever eaten! The corn was winner and pitcher of beer ~ awesome crab house ~ can't wait to go back! Reading back my review my mouth is watering. Gotta go ~ heading to......

What's not to like about Bills?? They have amazing food, the best steamed crabs and great service. Even if you have to wait an hour to get a table, which the food is well worth the wait, you get to sit at the bar and have a few drinks.... you can't go wrong with this place! It's worth every penny you spend there!

Ive been coming to bills for years and have enjoyed the crabs everytime. The size and weight of the crabs are always on point. The Crab pretzel is the best in town. The owner looks mean (lol) but he's a cool fella. Mr.bills is always my first choice

So, after many years of people telling me I absolutely HAD to come here because the crabs are amazing I finally gave Mr. Bills a try. This review might be slightly long but I'm breaking it down into several areas of critique: Crabs - We ordered $75 Crabs, the largest they had, and they were hot, fresh, and nice size. In my opinion what makes crabs amazing is the seasoning and in my opinion this seasoning is HORRID! I've read all the reviews about how it's Old Bay... but it's NOT!!! The seasoning has nutmeg in it and is much coarser than Old Bay. The nutmeg for some might be a welcome addition, my son loved it, but I absolutely hated it. It pretty much ruined the crabs for me which were tasty and sweat on the inside but I just couldn't get past the nutmeg. Also, not all the crabs were cooked at the same doneness... so some were slightly overcooked. Crab Dip - tasty and had plenty of chips and pita bread for dipping. Made more with claw and inside than with backfin but good. Cream of Crab Soup - While this had lots of flavor and I didn't need to add any seasoning to it this was by far the shelliest crab soup I've EVER had!!! My hubby and son wouldn't eat it. (as an aside they also have this 1/2 MD crab 1/2 Cream of Crab combo which was also very tasty but also very shelly) Oysters - Nice size but shucked poorly as they were very gritty and not chilled enough. Crab Cake and Fluff - these were nice size and tasty but very heavy in the mustard. My husband who doesn't eat crabs got the crab cake. He actually hates mustard so it was a sad day for him as he could barely eat the crab cake and left almost all of it. My son however LOVED the crab cake and fluff. Onion Rings WERE AWESOME!!!! Service - The service was okay. She was busy as it seemed like there were only 3 waitresses for the entire place so it wasn't great but it was decent enough. Steve the owner was working the hostess stand and was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered a salad that actually never showed up but everything else came out hot and within a reasonable amount of time. My biggest complaint is that there is NO FREE REFILLS on ANY drinks and the waitress did not tell us this, nor did the menu mention this. Not only are the soda's not free refills but neither is the ice tea!!! WHAT?! We drink A LOT and between my family of 5 got 3 pitchers of soda and 1.5 pitchers of ice tea... we spent $35 on non-alcoholic drinks. That's just WRONG!!!! All in all if you like the taste of their seasoning and crab cakes and don't mind spending a fortune for non alcoholic drinks you will probably be very happy going here. I on the other hand will just go to Costas Inn instead!

Situation was Salty Dogs had no crabs today due to catering to crab feasts. Opted to try Mr.Bills for the first time. To start with I have never payed $62 a dozen for crabs. although Salty Dogs does have ones that cost this much and slightly more. Taste was fairly good. Very heavy seasoning. Actually too much. Once some of the seasoning was scrapped off the crab its true light weight could be felt. Half the crabs were half empty inside. I will no doubt never go to Bills for crabs again. It's been Salty Dogs for nearly twenty years and they sort their crabs for weight. If they don't have any I'm not eating crabs that day from here on out. This experience takes me back to hit & miss for good crabs. Not going there again. WAY TOO much money to take a chance on ever again.

No tourists, no reservations (except for 6+), no Bill, no terrace, no inn, just good crabs - big, from TX, expensive but really good.
