Thank you for your comment, Mr. Boyer. Perhaps you misunderstood my post. Raising our voices is not just about defending jobs, but about properly protecting our environment, too. 300,000 people were poisoned this spring. But replacing one problem with another is not the answer. We need clear balanced strategic approaches to addressing both the jobs issue and the environment issue and whether or not the EPA/DEP is structured in a way that they can effectively do that is something we all need to consider. Thanks again. ~L

Please consider to +1 my site below! I am working hard to put PEOPLE first in WV. Any of you who have paid attention to the state of affairs in the Mountain State know that we very much need people centered leadership! Ultimately, the trend we see here will affect everyone because once WV has been fully pillaged, big industry will move onto the next vulnerable population. Please raise awareness by getting my site more prominently displayed in search results. +1 today and I will be most appreciative!  ~L

Introduction

My name is Layne Diehl and I’m running for the WV House of Delegates in the 59th District. I am a native West Virginian and proud resident of the Eastern Panhandle. I have lived here with my husband, Nic, and my two children, Kaytlin and Niall, since 2004. We moved here because we saw that the future of West Virginia hinged on the success of the Eastern Panhandle and we wanted to make a difference by contributing to that success.  I am committed to Putting People First in West Virginia and believe that our current state policy caters to big money and industry while often times hurting the interests of the everyday citizen here. West Virginia needs a more balanced approach to government.

I come from humble roots and from a family of working class West Virginians and United States veterans. I got my first job as a cashier in a fast food restaurant when I was sixteen and worked as a waitress and as a work-study student at Concord University to put myself through college. I studied law at West Virginia University. I have experience as a business executive, a higher education professional, a small business owner, and a practicing lawyer. As your representative, I will work hard to see that your interests are considered in state policy making so that you can live in a state with diverse opportunities for prosperity and well-being.

In West Virginia, we believe that Mountaineers are always free. I ask for your support so we can renew that motto in the lives of West Virginians, including those of us here in the Eastern Panhandle. Thank you for your consideration.

Bragging rights
Layne is a military brat, having moved around a little in her youth, but her home is in West Virginia. She is married and has two children. Her family is the joy of her life. She is a life-long Girl Scout and co-chair of the Women's Advisory Board for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital. She is also a big fan of the Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Air Show, hosted at the Eastern WV Regional Airport in Martinsburg, WV, a big event that her husband has a little something to do with!
