My name is Layne Diehl and I’m running for the WV House of Delegates in the 59th District. I am a native West Virginian and proud resident of the Eastern Panhandle. I have lived here with my husband, Nic, and my two children, Kaytlin and Niall, since 2004. We moved here because we saw that the future of West Virginia hinged on the success of the Eastern Panhandle and we wanted to make a difference by contributing to that success. I am committed to Putting People First in West Virginia and believe that our current state policy caters to big money and industry while often times hurting the interests of the everyday citizen here. West Virginia needs a more balanced approach to government.
I come from humble roots and from a family of working class West Virginians and United States veterans. I got my first job as a cashier in a fast food restaurant when I was sixteen and worked as a waitress and as a work-study student at Concord University to put myself through college. I studied law at West Virginia University. I have experience as a business executive, a higher education professional, a small business owner, and a practicing lawyer. As your representative, I will work hard to see that your interests are considered in state policy making so that you can live in a state with diverse opportunities for prosperity and well-being.
In West Virginia, we believe that Mountaineers are always free. I ask for your support so we can renew that motto in the lives of West Virginians, including those of us here in the Eastern Panhandle. Thank you for your consideration.
