Even sharks are tweeting now!
Transmitters on the sharks trigger an automatic tweet when they swim close to a beach.

Every scientist has a story, right? But, if you're a scientist, can you communicate your story to scientists outside your field or to a layperson? Can you sell your ideas to someone who has two minutes (or less) to listen to you? Like it or not, as science evolves, the ways by which we communicate about science evolve, too. Scientists today are using blogging and social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ to obtain funding, find jobs, build collaborations, share ideas, or simply curate the incredible amount of science news available today. Come join this hangout with 5 San Diego (recovering) scientists active on Twitter to hear their experiences and 'how-to' get started with Twitter.

Nice piece on finding ways to reach non-traditional science audiences
Science writers do a good job of conveying science news to people who are interested in science. But we don’t always do a good job of reaching people who

Webinar today! Maybe we can get some ideas from this on how to get funding for ScienceOnline San Diego?  It's focused on lab funding but mentioned science education projects too.
Science research is largely funded with grants from government agencies such as the National Science foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). However, the ongoing downturn in the US economy has unfortunately led to a necessary tightening of the government belt, ...

I liked this.  Distinguishing good science writing vs improved communications and making the case we need more of both.

Nobel Prize recipient Levitt merging the world of biology and computer science.
Capturing the essence of an object sounds like the lofty goal of an artist with paint brush and palette. Michael Levitt prefers a different medium?the 1?s and 0?s of computer science. For almost 40 years, he has been creating dynamic computer models of proteins, nucleic acids and other macromolecules and now he is tackling one of his most ambitious subjects to date?representing the varied and complex behavior of the motor protein, myosin.

I thought the links in this article were good, for a Google+ novice, you can quickly breeze through and pick up some tips.
There's no denying it: we love Google+. Sure, we've made hay over other social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. That's because it'
