We love A Winged Victory for the Sullen mostly for their heartbreakingly beautiful music, but the great name doesn't hurt either. They return to LPR on Tuesday and we know we're sticking around for this one.

(Le) Poisson Rouge is a multimedia art cabaret and concert venue founded by musicians on the site of the historic Village Gate in New York City. Dedicated to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, film, theater, dance, and fine art, the venue’s mission is to revive the symbiotic relationship between art and revelry; to establish a creative asylum for both artists and audiences.

LPR prides itself in offering the highest quality eclectic programming, impeccable acoustics, and bold design. The state-of-the art performance space, engineered by the legendary John Storyk/WSDG, offers full flexibility in multiple configurations: seated, standing, in-the-round, and numerous alternative arrangements. The adjoining bar doubles as an art gallery as well. A work of art itself, the physical facilities are the embodiment of the experimental philosophy that drives the venue.

Take a look at the full concert calendar.

Back to the 80's with Jessie's Girl is the best throwback experience in the city. Live cover band, great people all dressed up in 80s, and just a good time vibe. I'm heading here for Friday 90's this week

Max Richter In Concert: Reimagining Vivaldi (Le) Poisson Rouge (often referred to as LPR) is a music venue and multimedia art cabaret in New York City founded in 2008 by Justin Kantor and David Handler on the former site of The Village Gate. The performance space was designed and engineered by John Storyk/WSDG. It has become a known venue for its focus on artistry, bring contemporary classical music into the club setting, and offering a variety of set ups so that a seated classical performance can be followed by a standing set by a rock band or a DJ. Responding to a performance of Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time featuring pianist Bruce Brubaker at LPR, the Wall Street Journal reported: "The crowd -- many of whom wouldn't even have known who Messiaen was -- sat in rapt silence, and roared their approval at the end."

Spot is spacious. I like the set up. Outside of the main performance area is a decent sized bar area, the bathrooms and coat check. This is the 1st section when coming into the venue down the stairs. Once they open up the doors to the main area there is another bar as well. So you have the option of 2 bars. Decent sound system.

I went to Le Bingo at Le Poisson Rouge on Saturday night and it was so much fun! From 7:30 - 9:30pm every Saturday night you can hang out with the great hostess in drag and her trusty sidekick. Free to enter, $2 per bingo card. Drink specials (based on what the spinning wheel lands on) and prizes galore! We were a group of three, showed up around 7:15 and were able to get a table. It does get crowded, so go a little early and grab a drink. Drinks were served in plastic cups which surprised me. I'd recommend going for Le Bingo. I have not been otherwise.

This venue always has something interesting going on: live bands, theme parties, DJ's spinning, and even bingo. The atmosphere is built around gorgeous contemporary art that looks to have been stolen from the MoMA. The acoustics aren't the best, but are still better than most places in the city. Just be prepared for loud (like every other club scene). Drinks are expensive and sometimes tickets sell out. For popular events, expect a long line. Maybe convince a friend to grab you some filafel at Mamoun's down the block while you wait.
