When one run of knob and tube wiring is not enough. This was from a house where we were told in no uncertain terms that there was no knob and tube wiring anywhere. Good luck getting home owners insurance.

I caught a picture of this Carpenter Bee heading for his boring holes under a bay window. Now that the bees are dormant is a good time to patch and seal Carpenter Bee exit holes in the eaves, siding and deck.

I saw this spider in a basement in Upper Saddle River. Notice the size of the spider compared to the cinder block. The realtor was standing next to it but didn't see it.  I calmly said come here I'd like to show you something.  Only seen this once, what type of spider is it?

I was down in Jersey City checking out a roof this week.  There were several chimney flue pipes I couldn't look directly in.  Using my camera I took several shots that I could review later at the office.  To my surprise a mommy squirrel and babies.

I saw some termites the other day.  The clusters of dirt that look like corral and the straight up and down dirt tubes are all the work of nested termites going after the wood in the home.  This house needs extensive flooring repair.

One of the reasons I like to go up on the roof of every home inspection is to find out the condition of the plumbing vent flashing. To often they look OK from the ground.

Most of the houses I have inspected this winter have had exterior spigots still pressurized.  Don't forget to turn them off!

The "Federal Pacific" electric panel is a known fire hazard.  The panel has known design and manufacturing defects.  I have inspected homes that have caught fire from these panels.  If you have one in your home, this panel should be replaced by an electrician.
