#ThrowbackThursday to one of our 2016 Craftsmanship Award Winners - Michael Baughman, C.P.:

2nd Place- Michael Baughman, C.P. of Baughman Wallcovering in Oceanside, CA – West Region

The Winding Hall

This project involved 175 square feet of watercolor canvas being installed in a home’s winding hall. The canvas was divided into 3 pieces: right, middle-alcove and left side of the winding wall area. The canvas was laid out, measured, trimmed according to the plan for the alcove wrap and carefully installed being sure not to get moisture onto the watercolors. The work of a true professional! http://ow.ly/i/vaPVP

By attending WIA’s International Workshop/Tech Tour you’ll have numerous opportunities to experience some of the best wallcovering products available, and be able to ask in-depth questions about them to their creators.

The first tour scheduled for this trip is to the factory of Lewis & Wood. Lewis & Wood has created a substantial collection of textiles and wallpapers, largely manufactured in Britain. The success of the company lies in its determination to be different.

The commitment to produce original products starts in their screen printing studio, where creative director, Magdalen Jebb collaborates with a variety of freelance designers, from different disciplines to encourage an original approach. They then work with weavers, dyers, printers and finishers to try new techniques. This isn’t always easy, but it does make the result a lot more interesting.
