Paddling a Kayak, canoe or SUP, one of the most useful everyday techniques for monitoring your progress is the use of transits. Line up one object with a more distant one and watch how they stay in line, or move apart. Check out my short introduction to transits on YouTube at https://youtu.be/zismmhVZsz8. You'll find more in my book "The Art of Kayaking", or in my Navigation classes, but this is a good start.
