We love our communities. CMC President Carrie Besnette Hauser gave a thoughtful shout out to Leadville in a Denver Post Op-Ed, capturing our home as a place that is "full of ingenuity, courage and determination, and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty." Fifty years ago, Colorado Mountain College was preparing to open its first two campuses in Leadville and in Glenwood Springs, thanks to a few visionary leaders who realized post-secondary education would only be available in hard-to-reach mountain towns with a manifest destiny approach.

Happy 4th of July!! Celebrate America today, and the true meaning of our freedom. "We, the People, recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights; that our destinies are bound together; that a freedom which only asks what’s in it for me, a freedom without a commitment to others, a freedom without love or charity or duty or patriotism, is unworthy of our founding ideals, and those who died in their defense.” — Barack Obama

My wife and I have taken may culinary classes. They have all been excellent. You won't find a better meal at the price and you won't have nearly as much fun. We recommend these courses to everyone we think could possibly be interested.

My experience at CMC has been greater than I ever thought it would be. The variety of classes offered is spectacular and the size of the classes offers one-on-one teacher-student communication. The styles of teaching presented are helpful to further learning because most teachers engage you in conversations instead of just talking at you for 2 hours. Hands-on activities, group projects, outdoor field trips and discussion circles are some of the teaching styles I have experiences just to name a few. I can't imagine where I would be without attending CMC. I am almost done with their BA Sustainability program and it has been one of the greatest decisions of my life.

Take it from me, I started attending this school straight out of Summit High, and I can tell you that the QUALITY of your education is going to surpass a University by miles. There is ZERO difference of where you get your first two years done, because the ged ed credits are all the same anywhere else. This school treats everyone with respect and dignity, and believe it or not, they actually care about you and they WANT you to succeed. This happens not only on the admin level, but especially on the instructor level. They will help you succeed as much as you want to accomplish. The teaching staff there is super approachable, and is always willing to answer your questions. Did I mention the price? 59$ a credit hour. Yeah, that's real life. Also, registering for classes is pain free and quick. That is what an education should cost. I made the mistake of leaving CMC for the University of New Mexico, and trust me- CMC is ahead of UNM in every single aspect. That is why I came back to CMC. What are you waiting for? Go take English comp or something.

After 30 years of work and skiing I decided I wanted to pursue getting a college degree. Colorado Mountain College made the process of getting enrolled and going to classes easy. Everyone from the front desk staff to counselors, and financial aid specialists as well as the teachers are always happy about helping with all the questions I had.
