A neat little piece about how the dirty bits go together to make AWD cars work.

As all-wheel drive (AWD) becomes more affordable, more common and more effective than ever, more Canadians are shopping for new rides that send power to all four wheels for maximum grip, confidence and peace of mind when the going gets slippery. Here’s a closer look at what makes an AWD system tick, and some of the high-tech advancements that let today’s AWD systems work with immense precision.

Find of the Week: 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

Even where a supercar is concerned, there are still degrees of excellence. For instance, the original Lamborghini Aventador, heir to the mantle of the Miura, Countach, and Diablo, didn’t quite come out of the box with as many horses under its creased hood as the badge would indicate. The numerical designation said LP-700, but you had to round up a little: there were actually 691 Italian Stallions leashed together in that fire-breathing 6.5L V12.

Close enough, right? But maybe you’re a stickler for the best-of-the-best. Here, then, is a particularly special version of a special version, a car that Patrick Kam of Lamborghini Vancouver calls “The most heavily optioned Aventador we’ve ever ordered.” Thanks to some extra oomph from Sant’Agata, this machine is making north of 740 hp. That’s more like it.

More about this beauty:

Can't let Jacob have all the fun with these pop quizzes. Hyundai Genesis is a sweet deal, but not the real deal until they nail down those carpets. Oh, and the V8 is the sweet spot, though it's a shame you can't buy into a lower trim with the V8.

Not much is new with the 2015 Nissan Leaf, but the price is starting to creep into reasonable territory, and more efficient manufacturing makes me hopeful this can start to reach more people...

Price is what keeps me from purchasing this model. Get the price down and people will by more as Point-t-point transportation.

As I explained earlier today, people won't buy a hatchback/wagon A3, but they will go nuts for this small crossover. Audi has a winner on their hands and the updates for the 2016 model make it even more appealing - I just wish they had included 220-hp/258 lb-ft 2.0TFSI as part of the package for Canada

Some great photos by Jeff Wilson, and a nice team effort in the writing.

Which one is your fav hatchback

Anyone who drives on Canadian roads will soon see that we are big fans of small cars, and none are more suited to our practical and economical natures than compact hatchbacks.

We decided to pit the latest hatches in a challenge of efficient motoring, passenger comfort, cargo capacity and overall capability as one-size-fits-all transportation for families and individuals that want to make the most of their purchases.

Gold. some of this stuff is too funny.

It seems hardly fair to talk about weird Japanese automotive ads without recognizing that, yes, car commercials tend to be big-budget, convoluted affairs no matter where you are in the world.

In North America, however, the vast majority of ads focus on discounts and financing offers. Very rarely do they promote the brand itself. But when it happens, it usually involves a famous spokesperson and a long-winded monologue. That’s where we start our top ten list of (in)famous celebrity car commercials, ranked in ascending absurdity.

I'm a convert. Fresh meat, tasty cheese and bacon, limitless options and creativity. Yes it's pricey, but for those who say they can find a better burger for less money, I tend to think they simply don't know how to judge a good burger. However, I would like to see what they can do with onion rings since that is not yet on the menu.
