3 stars for the restaurant (service was awful and sushi was average when I went, I think there was one server for the entire restaurant?) 4 stars for the lounge (the bar area is really nice and classy if you don't mind the expensive drinks)

The staff was very chatty but not attentive to the meal. The place was a little noisy, dark and the seating was uncomfortable. The sushi was average. Fresh fish, smaller portions (I don't mind that). Below average presentation. For such an extensive menu there was nothing on the menu that seemed unique or interesting. Their fillers like Edamame were tasty but when it came to the real items I was honestly disappointed. My friends and I got out of there for 600 (Party of 4) which is pretty steep when you leave hungry. I won't be back.

We went here for our son's 20th birthday. Fantastic. Honestly, everything was delicious, the space is beautiful and comfortable and the service was top-notch. When we walked in I was a little concerned about the noise and the place was PACKED!! But, this was just the bar area and I was relieved that the dining area is protected form all the noise up front. If you haven't tried it yet, go! Everyone in our group absolutely loved it. A little pricier that the typical sushi joint, but it's in a completely different league and for the 5 of us I didn't really think it was terribly expensive anyway. Looking forward to going back!

Nice decor and service, but for the money spent, I could have had much better overall experience elsewhere. I know it's trying to be swanky, but it's too superficial.

Excellent food and service! Sushi was fresh and delicious and the ambiance was very energetic. Definitely enjoyed some of the more unique cuts of fish that you can't get at more standard sushi spots. Definitely a repeat.

Pretty good sushi and the happy hour is definitely worth it. It is the place I go to if I am staying around Oakland and want sushi. Can be very busy at times but otherwise def worth a visit.

Ozumo oozes over-the-top trendiness with techno horsecrap echoing across the cavernous interior, courtesy of a DJ from the club-like lounge in the front. Don't get me wrong--the decor is nice, the service is great, and the food is great, but this place is more like dining in a nightclub than a genuine sushi restaurant. The highlight of the food was the gindara black cod. Dattebayo!! Delicious. All the other food was great, but I'm a guy with an appetite, and after $100 for two, I walked out still a bit hungry. Give me the old-fashioned hole-in-the-wall sushi place with the genuine accessible Itamae guys and the giant cans of Asahi and I'm happy.
