Dear friends:
Recently CA senate just passed a proposition SCA-5:
http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201320140SCA5

The main purpose of this proposition is: currently the Asian new enrollments are about 35% in CA public universities( UC and CA state universities). This proposition was proposed by Ed Hernandez. It is trying to suppress Asian enrollment rate to 13% to benefit Latinos. If this proposition becomes law, it will affect Asian kids greatly. Asian kids works so hard, but they will lose the chance by 24% to enter UC or CA state universities. They deserve equal chance to go to UC and CA state universities!

Now this SCA-5 has passed in CA senate. If it also passed in the assembly, it will be put on ballot to vote in Nov 2014. But you know how many Latino voters are in California! It will definitely pass and become a law!

Please at least write to your representatives to urge them to oppose SCA-5. You can find your representatives here:
http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

It is  even better if more and more people can gather together to personally protest this SCA-5. Please invite you friends to oppose this unfair proposition. Stop it in early stage. Thank you.

Please oppose SCA 5, the constitutional amendment to delete provisions
implemented through the enactment of Proposition 209.  I believe racial
preference in college admission is not the right practice and violates the
Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.  Children who study and
work hard should deserve equal opportunity in college admission regardless
of their race.  I strongly urge you to vote "No" for SCA 5.  Thank you for
your considerations.

Nice perspective on why the "pro-life" stand of republicans feels so superfluous.
