Friends and I stayed at Tropicana for three nights. We managed to get a mini suite for a good price, however, once we arrived we were charged more. The discounts they agreed to us over the phone were forgotten. We were told wifi is free but it turns out only specific rooms have Wifi. Our mini suite did not, even when we were told different on the phone. They also have a card system, everyone needs a door key or they will not be allowed entrance, so you are forced to buy extra key cards- which aren't cheap. The hotel itself is nice, outdoor and indoor pools, good crowd, and nice boardwalk. If you plan for the beach, you do not need to rent a beach umbrella, try to find ones left behind by others, to save a few $.

Sorry to hear about the troubles during your last stay. If you booked and paid for the room over the phone, you shouldn't have received a different price at check-out. There are taxes and resort fees that are added to the bill though. We apologize for the wifi issues, the signal is stronger in some parts of the hotel than others. Each person requires a key to enter the hotel - rooms come with 2 keys included. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our other amenities though. If you have an issue with your room or check-in in the future, we have a Front Desk manager on staff 24/7 to help.

What a horrible inconvenience their hotel key card elevator access policy is. Truly dumb from a business stant point. Piss off 8 of 10 guests to save 1 of 20 from noise? That was the logic explained to me. I will not be staying here nor spending my money here again. Your policy really left a sour taste in my mouth to treat your guests the way you do. I come to atlantic city to spend money and enjoy the city, not be harassed and ostracized by my hotel. Your destroying your reputation and will pay for it in the future.

Very sorry for the inconvenience. Each guest requires a room key to enter the hotel. You're welcome to register any additional guests at check-in. If you forget your room key, we're happy to help and have a Front Desk manager on staff 24/7 if any issues should arise in the future.

The hotel insures that it doesn't miss a beat in making money by treating the guest like prisoners. In order to get back to your room every guest must have a room key . That's fine , the security process of checking every guest upon entering the rooms is almost harassing . I can see this being an issue for a person trying to have a fling . If you wanted to just have a guest in your room for a few hours in addition to you and your guest you have to pay the $25.00 fee per night for them to get a room key . Essentially making you " pay for it, even if they do not stay ! Illegal lol The rooms are below average for $250 a night. The bathrooms could use an upgrade . The floors in the room are hardwood with no shine , very dull and just overall not appealing . & especially for $250 a night . This resort should focus more on quality and not quantity . They need to keep up with small ware and tear throughout fans entire hotel . We also had marijuana smell coming through our vents last night . My friend swears she got contact high . Maybe all non smoking should be on one side and all non on thee other . I mean marijuana is not yet legal here . I don't feel that they are ensuring we have a good stay . No customer service measures or complimentary steps have been taken . It would have been nice to even have 4 towels in our room since we paid for 4 people . It's the little things that's count . Also the rooms have no storage space so all of clothes are just on the floor next to our beds, so even though we are in a hotel we are living out of our suitcases . We received no travelers guide , just a phone book in our room . Still currently looking for a breakfast spot . Idk my friends and I talked about it ( 4 girls total , age 25) and we decided that next time we would pick a small hotel and just come over and enjoy the hotel from the aspect .

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us! We have a variety of different rooms available. Some rooms do not include furniture for storing clothes. If you ever have trouble with your room, we have a Front Desk manager available 24/7 to help. Please feel free to call the Front Desk any time during your stay to speak with the manager. We have plenty of great breakfast options: Casa Taco in the Market Place (accessible from the boardwalk), Fiesta Buffet, Seaside Cafe, and Broadway Burger Bar also serves breakfast on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

the hotel room was okay but the bathroom needs an upgrade. However, I really liked the Quarters with Carmines and the Cuban restaurant and that antique car. I liked the fact you made the hotel look like a mini-village with walkway to casino. Swimming pool was nice too until someone threw up and that had to clear the pool (no fault of the casino. Sometimes it happens) We also liked the many food options available. We did not get a chance to see the IMAX or the family entertainment room either. I plan on doing so on my net visit. Thanks

I stayed one night at Tropicana...the way its laid out is ridiculous ... it is so inconvenient ,,to get to anything ...poor signage.... short staffed on security - so hard to find someone for directions- its a total maze --overwhelming.. public bathrooms are very dirty and no was filthy dirty with trash and crumbs on the floor - and iron burn wholes all over the floor a few holes in the wall-- I paid $169.00 ,,it was a total dive...I complained to the mgr and they did switch me to a better room but my time was limited an it was a total inconvenience moving all the stuff and the wait to talk to the mgr - then the wait for them to bring me the key. I am really disappointed - and it ruined my sons birthday

As someone that has had mostly bad to average hotel stays for decades, I am extremely happy to share my positive Trop experiences. As a former successful business owner for a decade & some in management before that, I am fully aware that most times comments are made it is due to negative experiences, but management & owners appreciate hearing the positives as well & I sincerely hope this non-biased 6 month review helps readers make an informed decision. I first came to Trop in AC in November of 2014. I did not know a single person in the area & selected Trop due to the affordability & a special they were having. I enjoyed my stay & came back in Dec & stayed several days a week for about 6 weeks straight. In that time I had the pleasure to encounter several people that made my stay comfortable & enjoyable. Steve (GM) is very hands on & appreciated notes regarding how excellent the staff was & seems extremely nice & attainable for someone in his position. Antonella (Host) absolutely rocks. She handled every issue with dedication & professionalism. She even contacted me in March after she stopped hearing from me (I had medical issues) just to say hello. When she was not available, Ken (host) was extremely helpful too. Trinity (Accounts) was phenomenal with helping with a billing issue (things occur). Wanda (Transportation) went beyond her duties when there was an issue I had with transportation & Academy bus lines. On the floor the staff has been great. From game attendants (Patricia, who is so on top of things) to Waitresses (Randee & Christine - who both make my overnights fun & now newest waiter Tom (from Showboat) to housekeeping, security, front desk, maintenance to the guys/gals in the shops, etc. I enjoy The South Tower (great wifi & quiet) & it is right above the casino. The showers are great & never had an issue with room cleanliness during any of my stays (about 25-30 nights I believe). Nowhere is absolute in anything and everyone has different expectations & I can only comment on my experiences (& my few guest). My expectations are mainly based around one key word RESPECT & I feel RESPECTED by The Trop & its staff. If you have RESPECT, the rest falls in place.. Fav things: Comp dollars, Playing the Casino during overnights - nice & quiet unless its a weekend & working online from the couch in the room (suites are worth it) Sometimes you need to get away from your day in/out life & even when I don't gamble a lot, I enjoy my time here. again these are my experiences only, but I highly recommend The Trop & the new renovations are FANTASTIC. If you see a big blue collar guy having a beer near the roulette machines at 4am - say hi.............................. PS ... I have not seen any issue with getting to my room & I stayed over 7 nights (2 stays) in the past 3 weeks. I was not there on a weekend, so perhaps it is a weekend thing or they discontinued the security process

So glad to hear you've enjoyed your stays with us and have had the chance to meet a lot of our employees that help make our resort a wonderful place to be :) We do make mistakes sometimes (sorry for the billing issue!), but we're willing to work with you to resolve them. Happy to hear Trin was able to help with that. We appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experiences and i'ts great to see you highlighting some of our great employees. The new room key security policy just requires each guest entering the hotel to have a room key.

Very bad service. I will NEVER stay here again. I was HIGHLY disappointed in the way I was treated. If you come with 2 friends every person has to get a room key or else you have to walk half a mile to get your own room key. Even though you are all entering together back into your room. The rooms need to renovated. I was treated more like a prisoner not as a guest spending money.

Very sorry to hear about the bad experience. We do require guests to each have a room key as a security measure to access the hotel. We have a variety of different rooms available, and are currently renovating some of our rooms. If you ever have problems while on property, we have a Front Desk manager available 24/7 to help.

(2014 summer)Me and the wife completed a week at the Tropicana. We don't gamble so we came for the boardwalk and amenities. The Tropicana had more and plenty to offer, from fine dining to quick bites when it came to food. They have a great pool area and pool along with the view of the ocean. The Quarter/mall was filled with shops, great people and a true Imax theater that was unbeatable! The room we had in the north tower was up to date with flat screen tv and an OK view of the boardwalk and ocean. It wasn't the best but was good enough. And last, the service we received at the Trop was great and I definitely want to go back if I can, as long as Atlantic City isn't gone down with all the closing. So go ahead and take your wife or family and have a grand time at the Trop's!

Thank you for the great review! Tropicana Atlantic City isn't going anywhere! We're even expanding our property to include an all new light and sound show on the boardwalk. Plus we're renovating parts of the casino with new carpets, lights, tables, and slots. We're also adding a few new outlets to The Quarter including a new fitness center. Glad to hear you had a great time with us last summer, hope to see you again soon :) You can book a room with us here:
