In the footsteps of John Thomas Howel. Great essay and delightful photos Joy. Hiking and especially scrambling off trail at these elevations is particularly strenuous. That you and Travis accomplished this speaks to your dedication and enthusiasm. Your photos made me just a little jealous. The Polemonium is quite a jewel to experience, especially in this rocky relatively barren terrain. Nice!

Introduction
I love exploring the outdoors and getting to know native plants.  I am working on my master's thesis, a floristic survey of the upper Rock Creek drainage, eastern Sierra Nevada.
Bragging rights
I taught myself how to juggle when I was 15. If my botany career doesn't pan out maybe I can join the circus.
