Eagle Cam Is the Most Majestic Thing You'll See All Day

"Some beautiful soul attached a camera to an eagle's back and captured the majestic flight that a human's large, dense bones will never experience."

Stitch Fix sends clothing picked by a personal stylist to your door. Interview with Katrina Lake from Stitch Fix. For women who want to look good but don't have time for shopping. You go to the website and fill in some general parameters and they will surprise you with a "Stitch Fix" fashion infusion. You try the outfit on at home and send back anything you don't like.

Interesting how she avoids "techie" buzzwords like "machine learning" or "big data" -- she just uses "tools" or "algorithms" -- but it looks like what she's trying to do is "big data" for fashion. The company combines algorithms with human stylists -- but has only 12 stylists for 10,000+ customers, so the human stylists are massively assisted by the algorithms and extremely efficient. The system gets smarter with time and she makes analogies to Pandora -- the more you use the system, the more it learns what you like, and "surprise" you with fashion that you actually like. A major goal of the system is keeping detailed records about what you do/don't like and why, and amassing as much data as possible for data analytics.

Right now it is just for women. Men and women buy clothes differently so they are focusing just on women, and if they ever do a site for men it would need to work in a different way. Right now the market for women keeps them busy.

How Much Do They Know About Me In The 'Cloud'?
npr.org/blogs/krulwich/147497042

"What do Google's computers and Facebook's, and Amazon's, and Verizon's, and all the other Internet servers know about me?

They know a lot, says Mark Rigely of San Francisco. His strangely beautiful video shows how emails, ISP data, weblogs and voice data are being used to paint our portraits, and how, with time, those portraits become dense with detail, pattern and personality.

It's almost like there's an image of us accumulating in that Cloud that will become an ever more vivid copy, with information we wouldn't tell our best friends, our family or our spouse. But the Cloud knows."

Thoughts?

Privacy isn't just a personal or selfish interest—it's a value vital to keeping power in check, he argued. "It's about the human need for refuge from the eye of the community. Privacy maintains balance between the individual and the state."

Bellissimo tool online che permette di vedere dei replay di sessioni di sviluppo con tanto di anteprima live.
Credo sia un ottimo strumento e spero che verrà adottato da più dente possibile.

(Sat04) Not sure why 40 years after the last man stepped on the moon we still need to be addressing this.

Mythbusters did a good job of breaking down the conspiracy theory, but this is straightforward explanation of basically we had the technology to put 12 men on the Moon, but not the technology to fake it. Plus if we were faking the moon landings, what was the purpose of the Apollo 13 scenario? get people more interested in our fake program?

he does kind of go off the rails in his summation about conspiracy believers in the end but that doesn't negate his points.
