"Insurgent" is better than "Divergent" and better than the last "Hunger Games" movie.. #insurgentgoogle   #insurgent   #theojames   #shailenewoodley
Second outing in 'The Divergent Series,' starring Shailene Woodley, feels fresher, tighter and boasts some top-notch performances.

Okay, I'm convinced

If Randy says it's better then it must be true

Review: Maggie Smith is one of the main reasons to check in to "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." It's as comforting as a warm cup of tea. We all need that now and then.   #secondbestmarigoldhotel
With its all-star veteran cast, which includes Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel and the welcome addition of Richard Gere, this follow to 2012, is a pleasant return trip to India.

Oscars 2015: Our favorite moment -- Common and John Legend performing "Glory" from "Selma."
John Legend and Common's performance of Oscar-winning song from 'Selma' brings tears and audience to its feet. Lady Gaga, 'The Imitation Game' writer Graham Moore and Patricia Arquette also deliver memorable moments.

Even the romantic chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence is off in "Serena."
Even with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence starring as a couple in love with each other and with power, the erratic screenplay lacks confidence as it swings from glossy romance to creepy thriller, leaving us feeling detached along the way.

Review: "Run All Night" -- great performances from Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman and Ed Harris elevate predictable crime story. #runallnight
Liam Neesen teams up again with director Jaume Collet-Saure ('Non-Stop,' 'Unknown') for a gripping, but entirely predictable, ticking-clock thriller.

"Focus" finds Will Smith back in fine form, and while it's a fun comic caper some plot developments don't hold up. http://www.mercurynews.com/entertainment/ci_27595590/review-focus-not-sharp-it-could-be
'Focus,' with Will Smith and Margot Robbie, is an entertaining and sexy comic caper, despite how it strains credibility and leans too heavily on plot contrivances that don't hold up.

Before you head to that Oscar party tonight might want to check out my picks for what's going to win. Go "Boyhood," J.K. Simmons, Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne and, of course, Patricia Arquette! If Mark Ruffalo won, in a tie,  I'd be happy too! #academyawards
'Birdman,' 'Boyhood' strong contenders for best picture; Julianne Moore and C.K. Simmons front-runners in top acting categories.

Introduction
I love movies, I love to write and I love to work out and help others get into shape. So I'm pursuing all these passions at once. I freelance movie reviews for the San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune. And I'm a certified personal trainer, a TRX-trained instructor, and spin instructor. I'm a health coach and trainer at UC-Berkeley's RSF, Truve, and also work at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA. When I'm not watching movies, teaching, personal training, you'll likely find me out on my bike or running up hills.
