RAVI COLTRANE and MOON HOOCH LIVE! 20 April 2012. A gorgeous sunset over lower Manhattan as Ravi Coltrane and his band held the crowd captive with their masterful blend of spontaneous jams and compelling compositions. Local favorites Moon Hooch wowed the crowd with their innovative brand of future jazz.

LIVE! 21 April 2012. Thousands came out to our local artist showcase featuring the gypsy-swing sounds of the Hot Club of Flatbush, Chelsea Baratz (sorry no pics!) and a blistering closing set from Moon Hooch.

NOMO and MOON HOOCH LIVE! 19 April 2012. A mind-bending night of free jazz on the waterfront. Moon Hooch’s groove-inducing cave music brought the crowd to its feet and NOMO’s wild afrobeat sonics kept them dancing.

THANK YOU!

The Special Preview Event for the NEW YORK DOWNTOWN JAZZ FESTIVAL was a great success, and a significant milestone towards bringing this new cultural institution to NYC! Over three nights, nearly 10,000 people came to lower Manhattan to enjoy free jazz concerts on the waterfront!

LOVE & APPRECIATION to Ravi Coltrane and his quartet, Elliot Bergman and NOMO, Chelsea Baratz, the Hot Club of Flatbush and Moon Hooch for bringing the spirit that moves. Special thanks to Nancy Schafer and the Tribeca Film Festival, Arts>Brookfield and the Battery Park City Authority.

Stay tuned for photos + videos from all three nights and the launch of our official website! Fundraising for September 2013 starts now! For more information about sponsorship packages write to monk@nydowntownjazz.com
