I'm still toying with the settings to see what works best on my hardware (Nexus 7 2013 with Franco.KERNEL r16 right now). I'll leave video quality aside for the moment.

But a pretty big showstopper for me is the fact that capturing the Internal audio stream mutes the device's speakers. I'd like to use Shou to capture/stream myself playing rhythm games, so hearing the music is really really important.

Can you post a video after you've installed one of the kernels, and the reason I say glitched is because of the L2 cache over clock. I ran it at its highest or second highest. Gave me ultra smooth recordings @1080p on highest settings for everything else. You'll also need to adjust your governor and read ahead cache a little.

It's always interesting reading about new sources of information leak on the web. One solution would be for services to only do /me Location redirects if the accept type is text/html. This should mitigate the <img> version but with HTML imports coming it might continue to work in modern browsers.

Should've happened a long time ago, I think, but OK.

Hebrew calendar now available in your Google Calendar

If you use the Gregorian calendar, it seems like Jewish holidays fall on different dates every year. That’s because Jewish holidays follow the Hebrew calendar, a lunisolar calendar used by many Hebrew speakers around the world that bases its months on lunar cycles and its years on solar cycles. Starting today, you can display Hebrew calendar dates alongside Gregorian ones in Google Calendar on the web. To enable it, go into Settings and select “Hebrew calendar” as an Alternate calendar under the General tab.

Some improvements to Hangouts in Gmail

Starting today you’ll see some changes in your conversation list in Hangouts, including message snippets and the return of green “availability” bubbles to make it easier to see which of your friends are currently active. With the new search icon, you can see a list of all your chat buddies and find other friends on Hangouts. And whether you’re happy, grumpy, or any of the other seven dwarfs (plus a few not in the storybook classic), you can set your mood using one of 80 emoji. Your friends will have no problem guessing how you’re feeling that day.

These features will be rolling out today. If you’re not using Hangouts in Gmail already, click on your profile picture above your chat contacts to “Try the new Hangouts.”

Chinese music, friendly and solicitous service, pleasant décor. Good egg foo young; delicious mu shu; and what I am told is the best eggplant dish, from California to New York, since Chef Chu's in Mountain View, 1977, by a now-aging Stanford alumna.

Disclaimer: I speak as someone who is not a student. I've just been in the theatre/music complex a lot for classes. Concordia has some good facilities. As college theatres go, the E.M. Pearson is in the top five I've had the pleasure of working in (as a musician). The Buetow auditorium is a decent recital space, even if I've usually done theatre in it (not a fun thing). And finally, the black box theatre is well designed and pretty easy for performance. My main quibble with Concordia is with their legal department. Outside groups cannot set up their own tech for performances; a Concordia employee must do it. That's great for the liability insurance policy, but not always easy when you're trying to set up a show quickly. (I also love doing tech, so it's always disappointing to be forbidden from helping with a show.) I can't be too hard on them though. I understand the risks that would be involved in allowing anyone to set up the ceiling-mounted lights.
