Gut bacteria have long been known to impact behavior and psychology. A gut bacteria (enterobacter) "encourages the body to make and store fat, and prevents it from being used, by deregulating the body’s metabolism-controlling genes."

A study from 2010 caused obesity in rats by transplanting bacteria into their gut. Remember when stomach ulcers were caused by anxiety? Perhaps soon we'll take an antibiotic to help eradicate obesity.
