The Catlins in New  Zealand is one of the most luscious areas I have visited. Straight out of a fairy tale.

Mansory Tuned Aventadór

You thought the Aventadór was already styled to the max and speedy as hell wait till you get a load of this 'monster!' The "Mansory Design & Holding GmbH" solely offers its proprietary developed modification accessories for vehicles of many types and boy did they 'do a number' on this Aventadór.

The Performance Details:

Thanks to an optimised engine management system and a high performance exhaust system, both engine power and acceleration are improved. With 754 PS / 555 kW at 8,300 rpm and 750 Nm at 6,000 rpm, the 12-cylinder accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a lightning quick time of 2.8 seconds and a has top speed of 220 mph.

The Design Details:

The eye catcher of the Aventador’s newly designed front body is the striking apron with its optimised air inlets for improved ventilation of the front coolers. In combination with the new front lip and its proprietary daytime driving lights, Mansory not only achieves an aggressive look, but also generates additional downthrust. The front wings, as well as the bonnet, are removed and replaced with proprietary versions. The sides grow by 40 millimetres in width on the front axle and an impressive 50 millimetres on the rear axle. Newly designed side sill sets are also fitted. These steady the airflow between the axles and, thanks to built-in channels, direct additional cool air to the drive unit and the rear brake system. The diffuser integrated into the new rear apron stabilises the rear at high speed and, in connection with the enlarged rear wing, produces contact pressure at the rear axle. The body package is completed by exchanging the roof and engine compartment covers with carbon fibre elements.

A super-sweet, wickedly redesigned Aventadór if you ask me! :)

Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula (3835 x 4000). Quite possibly the most famous photo in astronomy, the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula are stunningly beautiful. New stars form in the towering "pillars" of gas and interstellar dust. In effect, they are a stellar nursery.

This photo utilizes data from improved cameras and imaging systems in the Hubble telescope. In the Image Variants section of my astronomy album, I have included a super hi-res version of this pic (6780 x 7071). You can open this in slideshow, and use the scroll controls to zoom in on any part of the image and move about at will. You will be amazed at the detail and the sheer beauty of the image. It is hard to view this and not be in awe.

In Image Variants I have also included a rotated, cropped version of this pic which is great for widescreen high-resolution displays. For fun, I also threw in an image from the center of the pic which shows the "devil" is truly in the details. The conspiracy nuts will have a field day -- I can already imagine the image circulating on the internet with a caption like "Satan oversees the formation of new stars!"
