Awful place- I bought a Groupon and the first thing the stylist Karen told me, was not to use Groupon anymore because they take half the money. she gave me a good color, but the cut was way too short. when I got to work, I had a long piece of hair that was uncut, so one of the nurses cut it for me. Secondly, I showed everyone the cut I asked for and they looked at me and laughed. People said it's a terrible cut, that they would not have paid for it. I would never go back, nor would I recommend anyone go there.

i went here for a much-needed massage a month ago, so i could get rid of really intense soreness from hunching my shoulders all winter.. i purchased a groupon for it-- and ahhhhh. it was so relaxing. i was a bit late because the groupon wasn't interested in printing properly, but the staff was super sweet (and i think they understood the irony of being stressed out about a massage). they helped me with the glitchy groupon, and i still got a full massage, despite my awkward timing. cassandra was my masseuse, and she was awesome. this isn't my first massage in the area, and while i don't have any specific problems with other places, i felt the most comfortable here. but yeah, quality of massage was awesome, vibe was awesome, etc. i felt 100% afterwards, and the feeling lasted! definitely happy.c: thanks, guys!

I find it interesting reading reviews. I am a independent stylist located in Zen Salon like most of us are. 1st I enjoy coming to work everyday to be with great people. We strive to make our clients happy. I personally enjoy all of my clients and enjoy there life's with them. You will read good reviews and bad but keep in mind we all have are own business within the business and not one of us are the same. I work hard to maintain my good reputation and to continue to please keep that in mind when you are reviewing a place because it can affect us that has had nothing to do with your situation. We may talk about a situation or make small talk about the things happening in the day. Yes there were polishes taken from the salon a while ago not regular polish but gel polish and other things. When things are taken those things cost us alot of money and we need that to perform certain tasks. It wasn't a petty situation. It was alot. Not easy for anyone. And to calling out people on there past history. We shall not judge as not one of us know the situation. There's a lot of little things that can be classified in a section weather big or small. before we all judge take a moment to think. These reviews can affect not one person but many. Reviews should be based on overall experience and I for one go above and beyond for all my clients because I appreciate them and care about them. I would love to prove it to you. If your having doubts give me a shot and I will do my best to meet your needs and wants. We all have different personalities , what doesn't work for one doesn't mean it won't work for another. There are alot of talented girls at the salon and I'm proud of them.

I got a massage from Pam, and it was awesome! She did some amazing work around my shoulder that aches from playing the guitar, and all around she pulled out some nice unique moves. She's the type of massage therapist who focuses on being in tune with your body, knowing where to put extra attention without even asking you. The other thing I really liked is that she didn't waste much time during the massage--she attempted to utilize as much of my hour as possible to massage me, being quick to replenish lotion, for example.

Zen salon was selling gift certificates in the Fox River Mall in August of 2013. I bought a cut and color for only $49, and a massage for $32.50. They told me they never expired and I could use them anytime. They did have someone's name on the back but NEVER once explained if the person wasn't there it was not going to be honored. I made an appointment for the cut and color and when I arrived the stylist was no longer there, so it was with a new girl. I loved the new girl and thought how lucky I was that the other girl had left. Well I made an appointment again and when I arrived I had lucked out again with salon because the lady I had last time had left (she had just started there!) At this point I was getting frustrated as I finally had time to come in and was paying a babysitter. I couldn't just "come back a different time." Another new girl had just started and had time for me, halfway through my hair she had to have someone take over because she had a different appointment that was booked under her. The owner came over and was completely rude and did everything but apologize. It's been almost a year and I still can't use my massage because the therapist is no longer employed and the other massage therapist doesn't accept the certificates. They have a lady but she is booked out until September, which means she won't be there when I make it because no one stays there. The turnover is obnoxious. Please, Please do yourself a favor and don't buy the certificates in the mall. There are so many other wonderful places in Appleton to get your hair done. I hope they fix their negative energy and other people don't go through the hassle and waste of money I have gone through.

I see this place on Groupon all the time and I've been hesitant to try it out because of some of the reviews. I finally decided to check it out for myself and bought a couple of groupon coupons. I had a great massage there by Wendy. She did a 5 Star job, but I found the room to be a chilly which I didn't like, but it wasn't so bad when I laid down in the massage bed. Even though I have another groupon left for a manicure, I don't think it's a place I'd return to because I found the woman, whom I presume to be the manager, unpleasantly rude. She was at the counter and made it seem like my presence disturbed her, so I really didn't feel welcome. Hopefully I just caught her on a bad day, but she was unpleasant enough not to want to return. Fortunately it was just a groupon so I'm only out a few dollars.

Liked: Location Disliked: The smell is awful. They should add some type of ventilation so that the entire place doesn't smell like the nail salon part. Very unpleasant. Also, no one seems to answer the phones there, and when they do they are rude. The person taking appointments usually doesn't know if there is something available, and takes forever to get you booked in. I do not recommend this place at all.

I'll be honest, after reading the reviews, I was a little nervous to book an appointment there. However, I felt very welcome. I was there for a wax, and I felt so comfortable and the salon took my nervousness away. Quickest wax I've ever had and a great price too! I'm not sure why there are bad reviews for this place, they were more than accommodating and professional.
