Have played both courses over several years. In the past when it was managed by Billy Casper Golf it was in the worse shape ever. Recently it became under the management of Eagle Golf and the difference is amazing. The course is now in the condition it was back when it was a premier course and owned by Hyatt Hotels. A great course for a great price. They are removing several hundred trees to open up the fairways and speed up play and also promote grass growth. They installed silver tees and this made the course more fun to play for seniors. Try it you will like it.

Simply stated it was the best golf experience! The staff was very nice and friendly, the course (played the West course) is in great shape, and got the special online rate! I have to give a special recognition to Mario in the pro shop for his extended kindness. While at the range before I played someone accidentally drove away with my cart and my travel bag and he drove out onto the course to catch up with the two older gentlemen who took my cart and returned the bag to me before my designated tee time. I very much appreciated this effort because my car keys, gps, prescription glasses, and other personal belongings could have been lost. I highly recommend this course if staying anywere near DFW airport. I will most definately go again!

The course itself is in decent shape. Lots of blind shots and heavily wooded areas, so you'll spend extra time searching for your ball if your not a fairway shooter. My coworkers and I used to play this course regularly after work, maybe 3 times a week until they started requesting credit card information in order to reserve a tee time. I cant recall a time in my life where I no showed for a round of golf, but it's the principle of the matter. If I have an emergency to take care of or get in a wreck on the way to the course, are they saying they're still going to charge my card? If not, then why get the card information? Good place to play if you're trying to squeeze in a last minute weekend tee time on Friday - somehow they ALWAYS have available tee times whereas most quality courses fill up a week in advance.

I played bear creek west about a week ago. It used to be one of my favorite municipal golf courses to play in the DFW area. However, the course has fallen into disrepair. Fairways are muddy and torn up. Greens in bad shape. Bunkers are pretty much like hitting out of rocks. The east course is a little better, and I like how they are removing some trees to make the course more open. Still, with terrible gas carts to go along with a course in bad shape, there are plenty of other options in DFW area that are as cheap as bear creek and in better shape.

Response from the owner - in the last week
Thank you for playing Bear Creek and for the review. I am sorry that golf course conditions did not meet your expectations the day you played. A number of the issues you encountered are being addressed, unfortunately they were not completed prior to your most recent playing of Bear Creek. We are efforting to improve golf course conditions on both courses – tree work is currently in progress along with new sod in select locations on a few of the greens. We will also be re-sodding a number of tees on both courses in the upcoming weeks. Additionally changing out approximately 400 irrigation heads through the main playing corridor will be taking place during the next month. Additional capital projects are being planned for future years and a bunker renovation is among the topics for discussion. Hopefully these improvements and a few others yet to be started will restore your confidence in our commitment to improving and providing quality golf course conditions and you come back and play Bear Creek Golf Club.

I like the courses for the most part, the staff is top notch, and the prices are excellent, but I practice way more than I play, and the driving range is just OK. Usually the grass is pretty torn up, the entire practice tee box isn't flat, you can't see all of the target pins, and the balls are in just fair shape. They've mixed in a few new ones this year, but there are still quite a few of old timers hanging around that I wouldn't use for shag balls. If the balls were 100% new (Coopers, Tx Star, LB Houston) I'd reconsider the rating. Practice green problems as well...been closed for 6 months now. I think the chipping green is open.

for a starter like me the west course was much easier than east. The greens are good there are a couple blind shots on east (more on the east than west) but all in all love the course great people.

Nice fairways, challenging elevations on a few holes, and plenty of trees to keep the shots interesting.
