Waiting For The Next Wave

While going over old images to re-edit I found this. It is of similar composition to a previous image posted https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107073852799630124249/albums/5661771063814198465/5683278821447722274  which highlighted the stormwater outlet (bottom left), rocks (centre) and the the timing of the wave crashing into those rocks. This image's story line is  about the distant surfer. He has just let a wave pass and is waiting for the next "better" wave. He could just ride the first wave that comes along but that would take away the reason to be out there. Trying to find that perfect wave where surfer and ocean dance together in a symmetry that reminds us we are just a player in a bigger story and reconnects us with nature. As a photographer it is easy to go out to a location and snap a hundred photos without thinking of why I should capture this image. When I line up a shot it's about a feeling I get that tells me this is it. It's like all the puzzle pieces fall into place and that's when I know I'm in the zone. Depending on the mood I'm in when I go out to shoot, it might take one or two shots to get in the swing but once there, time stops and images appear everywhere.

Many clubs have taken out ads inviting GOP delegates "to party like a liberal" in a city where the "poles are open all night." City officials say the convention, expected to draw more than 50,000 visitors, could be Tampa's biggest party ever. Imagine all those rainmakers.
