Just had my First delve into Google Vault to trace an unkind conversation that took place in email chat. Any other way to monitor the chat other than searching after the fact? Ive tightened up the settings so it is within the domain.

Had a few problems with 30 children trying to work on 1 google slide presentation today. Somehow they kept deleting multiple slides (user error I think!!) I asked at the end what they learned - not to do group work Miss! Was the answer 😂😂😂 (we also learned a great deal about revision history and reverting to an earlier version!!)

I need to change a whole year groups passwords - want to reset them all as we’ve had problems with children choosing their own and then not being able to spell them!!!

Found these instructions but made me nervous 😟 just wanted to check first!!

CHANGING GOOGLE APPS USER PASSWORDS IN BULK

If you have several users to change passwords for in Google Apps you can upload a CSV (comma separated values ) file with the basic user information.

First Export a CSV file of your current users from the Google Apps Control Panel.

From the Users page in Admin select the Download Users button.

Edit the file to remove all but the first 3 columns.

Add a fourth column for the new passwords.

Required Row 1 Values: Email Address, First Name, Last Name & Password

Navigate to the Users Section in the Admin Panel

Choose Add User

add-users

Add user allows you to also modify Google Apps users in bulk.

Select the Option to Update Existing Google Apps accounts with new names and passwords.

After you’ve chosen your options and selected your completed CSV file, click continue and you’ll be presented with a confirmation of the accounts to review. Once you click Upload and continue the new accounts will be processed for creation by Google Apps and you’ll receive an email confirmation upon completion.

Before I try this, can someone let me know it works OK??

I need to reset the passwords for a whole year group of children (approx 90 users). A quick google found me this:

+Mike Walker Trying to get contact details for Mike so we can work together as I think they are our nearest reference school. Our school is in Leicester city centre.

Is it possible to push the domain to chrome browsers on windows devices like you can with chromebooks? So when logging into chrome, our children can just complete the first part of their email address as a user name? E.g. Jobloggs instead of jobloggs@schoolname.town.sch.uk ?

This is our first term using Chromebooks and G Suite. I'm teaching Year 1 and want to keep logging in as simple as possible for them. At the moment, I have a generic single account for the year group and a single password. However, the password is still 8 characters long which I know some of the younger children will struggle with. Can I make the password shorter or is there a minimum length? Can I use kiosk mode instead? How does that work?!

Also wondering if using a single account on 30 devices at once will make everything very slow. I've made a classroom for them all to use as it contains websites I want them to use in the lesson. Is there an easier way of doing this? QR codes maybe? (we only have user-facing cameras!).
TIA!

Camera app
There is no camera app icon on our list of 'all apps' on our Asus chromebooks. I've checked that Device options has camera 'allowed' but do I turn on a 'camera app' somewhere?

Hello everyone - I'm new to the group having just got G a Suite up and running at our primary school in Leicester. Got 60 new Asia chromebooks and 40 Lynx windows 10 tablets to play with! I'm @jobadge on Twitter and I'm sure I'll know some of you from there.
I'll be back with millions of questions soon.. 😂

Researchers at University of Leicester are interested to hear about teachers' use of social media. If you have a few minutes, please complete the questionnaire and give them some data to work with :-)
