I think that's personal bias speaking. Software restrictions and immoral behaviour can be criticised separately, but they have no correlation.
Non free software and monkey business go hand in hand. When you think it's OK to keep secrets and exploit people, you think it's OK to exploit people.
Some companies do have practices that do explicitly create and reward sociopathic behavior. Some are proprietary software companies. There is an intersect, but I will also grant that there are separate issues too.
