Another great post that really hits home! My adopted son is biracial. My husband and I can feel when people are uncomfortable with our family, it's a really icky feeling. We live right outside of RVA and I LOVE our community. We have never felt unwanted in our hometown. However, I can provide a list of places we have traveled to that did not give us the "warm fuzzies". I will have to say that I am super happy that I have a boy and I don't have to worry about hair care. I took his older sister to a salon in Regency once and she screamed so much (only washing and brushing, no braids or anything). The ladies in the salon were amazingly patience and kind. All that is now left up to her mom :)
Being a (insert all that apply: birth, adoptive, transracial, single, military) parent changes everything!
