Very nice wrap up and video from the Modesto Bee. "The Amgen Tour of California is that flamboyant uncle bound to visit during the holidays....But during the visit, your uncle not only makes himself comfortable, he takes over the house."

A unique railroad crossing near the start of Stage 4. The peloton passes by at about 2:50.

Nice reporting from KTXL Sacramento, even if the co-host does stumble over "Tuolumne".

More views from the pre-race activities here in Sonora. Overheard an Amgen official saying that this is one of the best crowds they've had so far.

Amgen Tour Stage 4 Starts in Sonora - May 16, 2012
Introduction
Sonora, CA is proud to host Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California on May 16, 2012.

As America's most successful cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California is one of the nation’s largest and most recognized annual sporting events.  An eight-day event, this prestigious cycling road race features elite professional teams and athletes from around the world.

Sonora is a city of 5,000 in the heart of Gold Country and the Tuolumne County seat. Few cities of its size can boast of having not only Yosemite National Park but also the best preserved 1849 Gold Rush era town (Columbia State Historic Park) and a top railway museum (Railtown State Historic Park) in the "neighborhood". Add to that, a vibrant arts scene (two award winning repertory theater companies), numerous art galleries and a year-around schedule of entertainment and events that would rival many major American cities.

"A cyclist lives to ride;  Tuolumne County is a racer's dream."
— Mayor Bill Canning
