Better selection than the new Wheaton store. I've never had any problem with cashiers like the other folks here, but the parking and big crowd is definitely challenging! The reason why it's so busy is because the store has more selection than the other local stores in the DC metro area. The Columbia store also has a smaller selection, so..after being at all three of these stores, I still go to Gaithersburg due to the better choices.

I am a registered nurse, work for county government, almost ready to retire. not all that wealthy, but had enough on my credit cards to just about cover the expenses. I guess that was the estimate this large corporate welfare veterinary specialty practice does. They figure on how much they can top off, from your very last dime, then they dump you. After that, they can't even be bothered with a call, a referral for follow-up care when your dog is dying of cancer, or even home hospice care from another service, if they aren't the ones making a profit off of you. In fact, they will send out a few extra tests that weren't even neccessary, when your dog was already diagnosed with an incurable cancer cell, just to extort another few hundred bucks out of you, in case you couldn't get in there again for them to kill your dog on their own cold metal table. No thanks. I'll never be back there again, in spite of the fact I LOVED Dr Saylor to pieces, he was the greatest surgeon around 7 yrs ago when the place was "The Barns" and not under corporate B.S. the way it is now, charging $325 a vial for meropenem antibiotics, when I was able to pay the same amount of money for 5 vials by ordering the RX via the regular pharmacy, after arguing and having major struggles with the front desk staff who didn't want to call the vets to have the medications called in. This place is definitely not where I would go for any future pet's problems. I would cross state lines to Pennsylvania, or DC, or even go to New York to a teaching hospital, if need be, after getting my dog stabilized by a HOME VETERINARIAN service, which i now know there are some AWESOME ones, providing the BEST care around, which I would NOT be paying ridiculous OVERHEAD prices. I was able to provide hospice care for my best friend, Star, after 10 1/2 yrs, she deserved the BEST, and she had a very peaceful passing at the foot of my bed, in her own bed, rest in peace my love. For all of you who consider going to this practice for cancer care- please join us at the canine cancer group or pet cancer groups on facebook, there are plenty of other places we can refer you to, for better care, where you won't be billed for your feelings of vulnerablility.

The WORST customer service I have ever experienced in the 40+ years of any power or energy company in the DC area, including PEPCO and I thought THEY were the worst! Apparently, Washington Gas is outsourcing their "customer service" to a company called "Accenture" in the PHILLIPINES, to people who don't even answer the phones for HOURS on end, and have no feedback mechanisms, no way to get problems resolved. If you had an emergency, or your gas was actually leaking or exploded, there would be NO SERVICE! This is a MAJOR threat to the safety of the DC region and leaves our citizens at a GREAT RISK! No one seems to care, least of all, the political people in office. They must be getting kickbacks from Harry Warren and the rest of the corrupt & greedy CEO's of this horrific company, Some oversight needed here, by the feds!

omg, this company should be booted out of the DC/MD/VA region, but most of us already know that pepco holdings donate money to the left, so that's why they have a monopoly and complete control over the citizens in our area, and can screw us any way they want, financially or otherwise.

I'd like to consider myself one of the best "evaluators" of thrift stores, since I frequent them almost daily. I'm a part time RN and antique dealer, so I think I know my stuff! My usual place to shop was the Montgomery General Hospital's thrift store, but there are too many folks working there who do not allow the good stuff to go on the shelves. I'm sure the same thing happens here at Unique, but to a much lesser extent. There are still some fabulous buys if you stay there long enough to look in every nook and cranny, and depending on the day you go (Mondays are so crowded due to the 1/2 price sale, that you might not be able to find anything! Thursdays can be that way as well for 25% off. But again, when items are being placed on shelves by the workers, they get picked up immediately by whomever happens to see them nearby! Make sure you have at least 3-4 hrs of time to really sift through all the isles and shelves. Don't forget to look at the top hooks where the baggies are! I've gotten a package of sterling silver open salts with spoons for $1.61. And the clothing can be just as good a deal. Last week I found 6 pieces of Chico's clothing in my size with tags for $4.99-$9.99 each. A pair of unworn Rockport clogs for $4.24 and tons of sealed needlework craft kits that sell on ebay for over $30 only $2.99 or less at this store. I love shopping here, and have no need to shop in retail stores. At my income level, I can't afford to dress in the high priced clothing, but I can still buy it at this store and look like I have a very high end closet! I have bought other pieces for resale and for my grown kids homes, and have been able to furnish my disabled son's home in style on a shoestring budget! The store also offers community help by way of it's closet program, and that is highly appreciated by the people who earn the gift certificates through county programs. What a great store with a great mission! Recycling Rocks!!
