Elven Ranger Bow: Finished the Siyah Design. Took some inspiration from the Mirkwood Elves weapon and armor in LoTR. "Blade" area will be painted to look like a stressed gold/bronze. I have also included the Bow illustration with the finished design siyahs in place. I think I am going to use laminated pieces of Ash to make the siyahs.

Elven Ranger Bow - final design. Alright, I have it all planned out. I will start building it in the next few weeks. Just need some time to get out and have some dedicated time to build. I'm showing here the profile unstrung, strung and drawn to 28". From what I can see, with the siyah at the 45 deg angle like it is, we should see no stacking. The string at 28" draw looks like it could still draw another inch or two before reaching stack. I may make some practice builds first before going for the final. I am going to name this bow "Taulmaril the Heartseeker." ;)

Elven Ranger Bow. Design after research and input from Adam Meade and Kurt Hamblin. Thanks Guys! So after researching some more and reviewing Nick's video on his Elven Bow, I found that the design is really based on a Mongolian Horse Bow. So I made the necessary adjustments in reflex and deflex, made some alteration to the siyahs to be more inline of where the string bridges should be as the are on the Mongolian Horse Bow and I think I'm pretty darn close. I'm showing it both unstrung and strung. This is starting with a 42" PVC Schedule 40, and 11" siyahs, 3" inside the pipe and 8" outside. Tip to tip unstrung would be around 52", target weight is 60#. Comments welcome.

More or Less extreme reflex/deflex thoughts. Ok, just trying to wrap my mind around this. Might be helpful to show some extreme between the two. What would be the benefit or not of the right limb compared to the original left one?

Thoughts on Elven Ranger Bow. How does more or less reflex effect bow speed? For instance, taking my original profile of the Elven Ranger Bow and putting less deflex on the limb and angling the ends up with more reflx adds an overall 4.5" reflex instead of the original 3.5". Between the two designs would give better speed, maintain poundage and give a good accuracy?

Worked on the design for my Elven Ranger Bow Siyahs. As per Adam Mead's suggestions. 11" total length, 3" inside PVC, 8" outer length set at a 45 deg angle from the limb. I've designed it to have a shape similar to a scimitar blade, giving it a very elven/asiatic look. The profile will be very narrow, thinner at the ends widening towards the "V" shaped string bridge. I have some red oak that I may use to make them unless someone has a better suggestion.

OK. Here's my latest design, based on Nick's Elven Horse Bow, with 62" tip to tip unstrung, wood siyahs added 2" more recurve in the siyahs. I have a 28" draw. Thoughts?

Good morning! I am thinking of making a PVC Hunting Bow. I want to hunt deer with it. I am trying to decide the best design and style. I want it to be around 55-65#, quick, efficient and quiet. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of a Maygar, or Ottoman Turkish War Bow style. I also love Nick's Elven War Bow. I'm think wood siyahs would be good. I'm an artist also so I will want to make it look elven ranger style. Suggestions or ideas appreciated! Thanks!
