As far as I am concerned these Domestic terrorists need to be locked up or deported.  Sedition, obstruction of justice, and threatening federal officials with loaded automatic weapons is a crime.  There's nothing good or American about these miscreants.
The Nevada rancher isn't just resisting the Bureau of Land Management—he's also fighting against his state's unusual constitutional history.

Unless a state has given the federal government the formal authority to take full possession and ownership of any public land within the state’s border, the land is still under full control and ownership of the state. To my knowledge, Nevada still owns the land that Bundy is using. It certainly appears that the BLM is trespassing on the property and overstepped Constitutional authority.

I suspect this will be debated in the Supreme Court.

Thank god I'm not a quantum physicist (I was just a lowly engineer) ......because this means no sleep for them until they this figured out....and it may take a (very) long time.
Exotic hadron particles: Scientists at CERN have confirmed the detection of exotic hadrons, a type of matter whose existence is not predicted by the Standard Model of particle physics.

Quantum mechanics effects aren't limited to extremely small physical cases, they directly effect the optimum sizing of thermoelectric generators....

RIP Hobie, and thanks for the modern surfboard and the Hobie Cat.....
His innovations helped thousands of people enjoy life on and in the water. Alter helped perfect a foam-core surfboard in the 1950s. Then he designed an iconic catamaran.

On Easter weekend, its a good time to reflect where religion is today. This post pretty well sums up the politicization of religion in the US.  I'm a former catholic, I left the faith in 1965 when the priest saying mass told us that there would be an extra collection that sunday to raise money to pass anti-abortion laws.  That was the last day I participated in the catholic faith......

The John Roberts Supreme Court just made it legal for rich donors to spend without limits.  Note that you and I must fill out a special form if we want to donate $25 to a candidate.

A Huffington Post interviewer interviewed the lawyer who argued before the Supreme Court in favor of removing spending for the ultra rich, asking him :   "......why, if money is speech, bribery is illegal. Shouldn't bribery be considered an expression of one's First Amendment rights?".

The lawyers response - money isn't speech.  Is this the same lawyer who just persuaded the John Roberts Supreme Court to eliminate spending caps for the rich, arguing that *money is speech?
Dan Backer, the lead lawyer behind a landmark case that further opened the campaign finance floodgates, conceded in an interview with HuffPost Live that money is not, in fact, speech. The effort to repeal laws regulating the role that moneyed int...

Ever notice how a spinning top transitions as it slows down?  When first released, the top is spinning rapidly.  The rapidly spinning top is stationary, stable, and non wobbling.  But as it loses power (slows down) it becomes unstable; the top starts wobbling, and no longer remains in a stationary position.

This is exactly what is happening to the northern hemisphere's most northern jet stream.  This jet stream historically has had a generally circular path, with the center of rotation approximately centered around the north pole.  This circular jet stream tends to hold cold polar air within its boundaries.

This jet stream is powered by the temperature differential across its circumference; the higher the temperature differential, the more highly powered this jet stream is.  Conversely, as the temperature differential across the jet stream decreases, the jet stream loses power and slows down.

This decreasing temperature differential is due to the fact that global warming effects are not uniformly distributed across the globe.   The north pole temperatures are rising much faster than at lower latitudes.   The earth's northern polar ice cap is rapidly melting.

As the jet stream loses power, its center of rotation starts to move around, and the circumference starts to change from a circular shape to an oblong more irregular shape.   This can let polar air move much further south than it did historically.

It then is not to hard to see that global warming effects may manifest itself by apparently more erratic and colder "cold snaps" in either summer or winter.

I don't normally watch 60 minutes, but did see 60 minutes "retraction" of its non-factual piece on Bengazi, which was used by republicans to attack our government. 60 minutes essentially admitted to nothing other than a non-defined "misteak". For me, this non-retraction is worse than no retraction...

I'm a FullTime RV'er travelling with my wife Peg and two cats, Oscar & Hannah
Introduction
I'm hopelessly eclectic......I like lots of stuff that is totally incompatible....especially when it comes to music, which drives those around me crazy.  My cat Oscar is named after Oscar D'Leon," el Leon de la Salsa"...

I love travel, photography, and history; maybe that's why I enjoy RVing.  I retired from Boeing in Seattle,  sold my house, and now live in a DRV 37 ft fifth wheel.  My wife Peg and I travel about 8 months a year and usually spend the winter in Florida.  We're  snowbirds.  Most of our friends just can't comprehend this lifestyle....

Politically, I'm a progressive; I really care about other people, which seems to be out of date these days.  I don't care.  Because of this I don't mix well with libertarians,  Lazzez-Fare types, and neocons.  I have no interest in "fitting in" and never have.

I'm a techie within economic constraints and love our IPAD.  My background is in aerospace hydraulic and pneumatic mechanical design, and aircraft monte carlo simulation.

To get a more complete view of who I am, see my full stream, click on posts in my profile.

I'm not sure what is coming next, but isn't that what life is about?  I embrace change and I'm not about repeating what I did yesterday......
