What Size Breast Implants Should I Get ?

The answer I give is surprising: "I really have no idea."

This is probably the first, and even the most important question patients will ask me when they are considering augmentation, and the answer is just like a perfectly baked cookie: many ingredients coming together and complementing each other to provide a balanced whole.

The process begins with what I call "the story of your skin." Are you from the equator of the world with a dark skin type and thicker, resilient dermis ? Or are you from the Nordic climes with a fair, finer skin type ? What ahs your skin gone though in life ? Years of sun exposure, several pregnancies, and 40 years on this planet, or something else ?

Next comes and exam and measurements, where I assess the skin, the brest tissue, and get out my "breast report card." I then grade each patient on skin quality, breast tissue quality, and take careful measurements.

The step is to look at photos together and see what they think is pretty. This varies widely, and I am as good at guessing this as supposing the color of car they may like, or favorite perfume they wear. Its a personal decision and as in life, it's best not to tell a woman what they "should' like. Some want a rounded, more uplifted shape whereas others prefer an athletic, sporty look that does not interfere with their yoga or jogging.

Finally, we "try on" implant sizers with 3 critical things in the room: myself, a trusted individual if the patient has one, and an implant size chart. This is where the final decision on the range of sizes are determined. My job is to be a "goalie" and be sure my patient is not hoping for an implant size that exceeds the ability of her skin to hold. Allowing that to happen opens to door to all kinds of other complications down the road.

As with all good things in life that last, I tell my clients "it's a process.: But one that's well worth it when we BOTH get a safe, predictable, and long-lasting result.

What's Up With Micro Needling ?

...it has actually been around for a long time. The idea is to create tint punctures in the superficial layers of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen.

This was typically done with a pen that has either reciprocating needles like a tattoo gun, or more recently a spikey-roller type device.

The latest version of micro-needling, which I use in my office, uses suction to draw the skin into a small handpiece where a roller with tiny needles passes over the skin. But that's not all, the roller is continuously bathed in whatever medication I want to deliver in to the skin: lightening agents, corrective serums, moisturizers, and even your own blood plasma (loaded with growth factors and proteins) !

The goal is to deliver theses materials where it's needed most, the deep layer of the epidermis and superficial dermis. Ill post more later about my own experience so stay tuned !

Do I need Breast Implants or a Breast Lift ?

This is a question commonly asked at my practice, and the answer is "it depends." It all has to do with 2 crucial measurements and relationships, and that is the length of the nipple from the top of breast bone, and the length of the breast fold. If these two things are long, a lift is generally needed.

It can be done with or without a breast implant for added fullness too.

For examples go to:

and

By the way, the radiofrequency breast tissue stimualtor, pictured below and available in Japan, is generally not recommended for either condition.

Breast that have a high enough nipple, and are not too long are often good candidates for an implant alone. You can learn more at:
