I work with dengue researchers. Today one of our researchers and myself laser cut dengue cookies. Dengue is a disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, often in urban areas. It affects 50-100 million people a year, and is endemic in more than 100 countries. And guess what? There's no easy diagnostic. With support from NIH, we are working on one. Stay tuned.

So we took Maria cookies and laser engraved a schematic of the dengue virus onto it. :)
