I camped alone with my two sons from a Tues-Thurs in the middle of July 2014. The land is beautiful. Worth the 2 hr 45 min drive from St. Louis. We set up our tent close to the river, and my boys played for hours. The river is warm, with shallow areas, and a deep area in front of "the rock" for jumping. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. I needed to get off the river from a float trip early with my young boys, and the riverfront staff came and picked us up. The store is nicely stocked. (Also, we happened to have a rough set of neighbors the first night. The staff dealt with this perfectly. They monitored the situation closely, and they insisted that I call them directly at any hour of the night if there was a problem. And they actually asked those visitors to leave, so the next night was exceptionally peaceful.) We had a terrific vacation. For the past 4 years I have explored a new area to take my kids camping (all of them near 44), but I will definitely come back to Riverfront next year. (Also, for those who prefer not to disconnect, my phone worked on the 4G network at the campground).

The Glendennings do a fantastic job making their camping and floating experience the very best family friendly experience it can be. If you are a novice or an expert at canoeing down the beautiful rivers we have in Missouri, the Riverfront Campground is the very best the area has to offer. From a gorgeous, well maintained campground, the comfortable, well-equipped cabins, and the delicious fare at the nearby restaurant, Riverfront is the best around.

We purchased a Groupon deal for $69 for our family of 6 (5 adults, 1 teen) to camp one night and canoe down the Niangua ( which took us 3-4 hours). THAT is a great deal! This outfitter was a bit rustic. The sites are primitive. Even so, we had SO MUCH FUN and it was a real bargain! We went in the middle of the week, so the resort was really quiet. The reason we had a hard time sleeping was because of wildlife noises: bugs, frogs, owls, etc. HA We found a campsite along the river. The showers are made with pvc pipe which we found quite clever. The girls bathroom was decently clean. I admit I was pleasantly surprised. It was cleaner than the the state campground. The men in our family said that their bathroom was much worse and they had no hot water. We were promptly picked up by a friendly older gentleman at the end of our canoe destination.

*Very nice place to camp and float, the owners are very nice people, they have this old man that works down there that is a pain in the ass, everybody was outside the camper at the picnic table and he took it upon himself to walk right inside my camper without saying a word .he was very disrespectful to my family and friends,we had a friend playing soft music on his guitar ,and that old man tried to take his guitar out of his hands.I live in the city and I've heard stories about that same old man.that's bad for business ..
