Chris Kluwe was the beginning of nerdery in the NFL. Now the Green Bay Packers are hardcore Settlers of Catan devotees. Next step: MTG drafting at the NFL draft.

There are a lot of Christian folks out there who could do with taking a page out of this one's book. I love the story about the elephant, in particular--it doesn't say how she got the zoo to go along with that plan, but man, if I had an elephant and this lady marched up to me demanding that I let a dying man ride it, I'd sure as hell fork over the saddle.

I have a friend who is both a gamer and a lifelong fan of a terrible, terrible hockey team. This is my birthday gift to him. Most of my G+ friends aren't into hockey enough to pick up on all the winks, but I figure some of you are probably nerdy enough to be willing to click on anything set to "Still Alive."

Okay, new favorite water-droplets-captured-in-midair photo.

This probably isn't as funny if you're not familiar with the situation and people involved, but the actual song they pulled together is awesome regardless. I've seen a lot of these hockey-quotes-autotuned-to-make-music things, and this is by far the best.

An excellent comic about lady gamers, concluding with a neat piece of information I was not aware of.

I post a lot of examples of anti-homophobia efforts in sports, and I just realized that those of you who aren't sports people might not realize how recent and sudden all this is. Shit like this, sixteen-year-old pro-bound athletes getting together to publicly declare their support for gay rights, this did not happen until You Can Play made it cool. There were soundbites here and there, but until YCP's initial PSA two years ago, it really wasn't talked about.

I'm particularly happy about this one because I saw the Steel play when I visited Chicago for Christmas, and I liked their badass T-shirt designs enough to buy one. Now I'll be proud to wear it.
