This is the art show I've got a painting in.

I was a last-minute addition, so I fall under '…and more to be added' on the artist list. And when I say 'last-minute,' I'm not kidding — I brought my painting in still slightly wet, and it only went up on the wall yesterday.

Who's got their Cintiq mounted to a table? I'm trying to put my mount together, but am stumped.

_Edit: found the installation instructions online. Still seems nontrivial.

A wonderful article on how we interact with the world around us.

Sexism on the Internet. Every panel is sadly true.

If you can repost this, or donate even a dollar, it helps. I'm looking around my studio, trying to decide what might sell at the auction.
Help Save A Life
By Bill Roper

If you have time to copy and paste a meme, fill out a top ten list, or link your favorite funny video, you have time to help save someone’s life.

A dear friend of our extended renaissance faire family, Jeff Holton, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. It has spread to different areas of his body, and Jeff and his wife Laura are doing everything in their power to fight the disease. A group of us in Southern California are putting together a benefit concert, and we’re also trying to use the power of the Internet to help. There’s a whole host of links at the bottom of the page, including their blog, but let me briefly explain why I am posting about this.

We, as a collective whole, have the chance to help save the life of someone. It doesn’t matter if you know that person or not, and the request being made is small. The economy sucks, too many people are out of work, and ends are getting harder and harder to meet. So its easy to just say no to a request for a donation, especially when you don’t know the person involved. But if you can spare even a single dollar, it helps, and in more ways than you can imagine.

I am a stalwart believer in the concept that, “Many hands make light work.” And that’s what I am asking for. Every day we spend anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours on Facebook, playing games, talking with friends, and gleefully whiling away the hours. Take just five of those minutes and pass along this message. Give whatever you can – it all shows a commonality of human spirit. Together, we can make a difference and just maybe save someone’s life. I know Jeff and Laura would be very happy with that outcome, and really, just how awesome would that be?

I went to the WoW Insider party last night and had a good time in spite of myself.

Helpful hint for my geek brothers: when a woman tells you right away she's seeing someone, before you've even said hello, your chances of scoring with her are less than being hit by a stray meteor. Learn to recognize the difference between genuine interest and politeness.

Many thanks to +Mark Turpin for letting me pretend I knew him so I could escape a group of guys who literally backed me into a corner! And it was good to see and quickly say hello to +Felicia Day, who surprisingly remembered me from years ago.

Also, I have a ton of Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs perfume samples. I can now smell like 'Red Queen', 'Penitence', and 'Aureus', amongst other things. There were special edition scents designed for the various WoW classes, so I hunted for the Druid one… but all I found were Rogue and Paladin. Typical.

The only downside is that I'm still wired from all the free low-carb Monster energy drinks they were passing out like candy. I could almost levitate. :P
