Establishing clear learning proficiency levels (rubrics) is key to measuring success of the learning objective. Engaging the students by translating those measurement tools into language the student cares about is brilliant! So often we forget that the student should play an active role in learning. After reading your post, I realized how crazy it is for us to design rubrics to asses student performance and never share this information with the learner.
