The Whistler is a small bar where you can get high quality cocktails and listen to live music. It's almost always packed (in a good way) and makes a great venue for a birthday party.

Hands down the best Old Fashioned in the city. Great, chill atmosphere. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Try to get a seat outside.

The whistler is a grand ole time. Good vinyl jams and good people make this a great spot to hang out with friends. If you go on the right night you can enjoy 90's jams being played all night while enjoyihg some of the best mixed drinks in chicago.

Before dinner on a weekend on the patio, this place is lovely! I'm not into rowdy and bumping, but I got there a little early and it was a great night. The cocktails are definitely interesting – curry powder! cucumbers and coconut! They definitely take things seriously, and it's a great, intimate space. But seriously, the patio is wonderful.

I spent one of the most memorable nights of my life here listening to a super talented but completely unknown DJ spin old school hip-hop while I sipped innovative cocktails from some of the best mixologists in town. The is the place where Paul McGee made his name and they still carry on his legacy with unique flavor combinations and obscure liquors. Warning: you will wait in line to get in after 10pm, you will wait to get a cocktail and you will wait for the bathroom. But the silver lining is that you're in one of the best bars in the neighborhood.

The place to be at this precise moment for affordable mixology is Logan Square. This is one of the defining spots of that movement. Really, really great drinks. And cool tunes, friendly staff, and a laid back room. Not worth it, personally, on Friday or Saturday nights, but weeknights or other times when it's not crowded is great. They have cool events like a recent spelling bee, too. I'm waiting for the next round, Whistler - I'm winning next time.

Get an Old Fashioned and then go to the patio where the music isn't.
