Even though Yoga is considered low risk, even therapeutic, the Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies published a 2017 study which followed 300+ people practicing yoga for a year. It found that yoga caused pain in about 10 percent of people and exacerbated pre-existing pain in 20 percent. Essentially, take precautions, such as speaking to your instructor about pre-existing injuries, go slow and take time getting familiar with poses you have never done, and listen to your body, to prevent injury.

Shoulder impingement syndrome, commonly known as a swimmer’s shoulder or thrower’s shoulder occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff become impinged as they pass through the shoulder joint. The condition may occur gradually through overuse or follow a partial tear of a rotator cuff tendon.

The bones of the shoulder joint, like all other joints in the body are covered by hyaline cartilage. This is a remarkable substance which provides for a nearly frictionless surface for many decades. When the cartilage gets damaged, either by trauma, infection, or just long-term wear and tear, osteoarthritis results. There are other types of arthritis, but osteoarthritis is simply the result of the cartilage surface wearing out.

#FeelGoodFriday #Yelp Review
"The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and they have great etiquette. Normally I'm uneasy when it comes to doctor visits, but the ladies in the office are extremely friendly. Dr.Thomas explained everything from beginning to end in a way that made me feel so comfortable. I have and in the future will continue to refer others to see him if they injure themselves."

What is a Deltoid Muscle Strain?
The deltoid muscle is the large muscle on the shoulder and has three parts: the anterior, posterior and the middle. The muscle performs the role of lifting the arm up sideways. The front part helps to lift the arm up forward, which is called shoulder flexion. The back part helps to lift the arm up backward, which is called shoulder extension.
