Slowly increasing run frequency, difficulty and distance during training is often the only approach to improvement runners practice. After all coaches are always saying specificity is key...

This isn't wholly true though. Working on specific muscle development, increasing power, balance and agility can help to dramatically improve your run and reduce the chance of injury. That's why we have now started our run conditioning session, to help you improve.

If you have seen your running plateau or you if are looking to start your running career the right way, you should try our conditioning session.

Next session Thursday @ 5:30a, Mt Coot-tha

A quick video edit from this mornings Mountain Goat training session.

This morning we were working on our descending, focusing on eccentric muscle training or "slowing down the elongation of your muscles as you fly down the hill". Remember, it's REALLY important to train downhill, as well as up hill, running.

It's been a big weekend of racing! While the North Face 100 was taking place down south, some of our Wild Runners were getting down and dirty in Brisbane's Spartan race. How did you guys go?

I'm often told that "I'm too old to start running" however I propose that if you can operate Facebook then you can still get out there and have fun on the trails. Take Jack Denness for example. He began running in his 40s, though he didn’t quit smoking until his 50s, and has now run the Badwater 135 (in Death Valley) 15 times!

If you think you are "too old" just go out for a walk in the trails and, if a bust of speed takes you, go with it. If not, have a nice walk.... it's all about getting out there on the trails.

Happy exploring!

Last week a few of us headed down to the Blue Mountains to run The North Face 100 - Australia, the biggest trail run in Aus!

I could talk all day about it and am happy to share more tips and stories with anyone who is interested so in the short term, I've made a quick video with footage of the course and four key points I took home for this year's race. - Tim
