Soooo, I decided to go back to stock on the GS3 (Verizon)...Yep!, all the way up to the EVIL 4.3 with the locked boot-loader. No more ROOT fun on this puppy in the foreseeable future. I had fixed the phone so that I could use a version of de-KNOX'd MF1 (?) stock 4.3 and still have ROOT. Unfortunately, I only really trust CM team...why?, I dunno, and well, beside that, there were too many quirks in the hacked stock 4.3 (GPS slow to make a fix, ridiculous slow behaviours like the battery dying at 10%/10min lol etc...) and it was making me nuts. BTW, I agree that once you start playing with ROMs, flashing, and backing up, its pretty addicting! LOL! BEWARE! :-P
Anyway, the S3 has OTG cable capabilities right out of the box which was why I originally only rooted my Nexus 7 which started the whole rooting adventure cascade. Yeah, early on, the N7 had the Nexus importer app which is great if you only want to read from a thumb drive with no "write" permissions. "Well, you should use Cloud Services..." will NEVER be the answer to this hindrance. What if you don't have internet access, just need to clear up space, but don't want to delete all your pictures... and an external SD card isn't available??? Write privileges should just be standard. Gee wiz!
All in all, who knows if someone will figure out how to unlock the new Samsung bootloaders without bricking your devices...and then can (and most likely WILL) re-root the GS3. Since there doesn't seem to be a CM release that isn't a little bit too quirky with CyanogenMod 11 nightlies being way too broken for daily use, the 10 versions are still too glitchy and aren't getting attention anymore as far as I can tell either, I figure full return to stock was the best move. Besides, with my Verizon Wireless contract ending in June, I have no intention of staying with them. I'm heading over to T-Mobile or back to AT&$T where I should get 10% discount through CSI
I remember some HR email mentioned that. Ohh!, I miss my 20% off I had with Quest/Ameripath Labs :( soooo saaad LOL! Ugh...but it was my dumb move to drop AT&T after being dragged along since Bell-South Mobility DCS, Cingular, etc... after you've been with a carrier for so long, I'm totally convinced that if you have a history of griping and moaning about service issues over several years, they will give you a higher priority on tge towers so u will keep quiet and stop bothering them. The newbies, get that for a couple weeks, but eventually drop to a lower priority unless they complain. I'm totally convinced that this happens. After years (10+) with AT&T, going to Verizon was HORRIBLE!!! Service sucked big time in comparison...til I bitched enough. Now its "normal".
-BTW this entry was to clear my head lol. I know its all over the place but it was really to help with my memory. I figured it can't hurt to post it in that maybe it'll help someone. Heh, if not, whateves. Cheers!
