"There is no violation of the “perfect being” of Jesus as God because as the perfect God He is also the perfect man. There is also no violation of the essential nature of the Father, as Arius of Alexandria would have claimed, because Jesus exhausts what it means when we speak of God, yet, the Father also exhausts the very definition as do the Holy Spirit. Infinity cannot be diminished or divided to the place where it loses its essential potency or substance. God is wholly God, and the persons of the Triune God equally exemplifies the very nature of God as One"

In my last two debates with respected Muslim Scholars Sheikh Molana Abu Bakr Akoo and Sheikh Musa Adam, both mentioned John 17:3 as a prime example of Jesus’ denial of His own Divinity. It reads as follow:

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3 E.S.V.).

Both mentioned a similar point in that Jesus pointed up to heaven (something the text does not show) and affirmed that the ‘Father’ was the only true God. The argument they present is therefore that Jesus nullifies His own presupposed ‘divinity’ by affirming the Divinity of the One true God. In the following post I will look again at the intention of the New Testament text and the common witness John reveals about Jesus the Messiah

This is the second instalment where I set out to show the simple inconsistencies and the poor reflection on the Scriptures from “Christ In Me International” (PTA). From here on, I will refer to ‘Christ in Me International’ in abbreviated terms as ‘CIMI’. The availability of their article is found at the following link: ‘One God’. Let us look at their perspective and reply to it step by step.

Dr Theo Wolmarans from 'Christian Family Church' mentions in his recent book 'How to recognize the voice of God' (Chapter 7) that Jesus became sin for us, went to hell for three days and nights, being tortured by the devil. He was separated from the Father and the Spirit of God entered Him on the third day resurrecting Him from the dead as the ''firstborn'' amongst many brothers.

I am appreciative of ‘Christ in Me International’s attempt to explain their perspective on the roots and definition of the Doctrine of the Trinity and Jesus Christ. In this article, I will look at the context of the Scriptures they mention as well as the validity of their own teachings surrounding these portions and clarify the orthodox (original) historical understanding of what these Scriptures teach in the Biblical context (exegesis).
