Interesting read

How do you store solar power that simply comes at the "wrong" time of the day? The element vanadium, traditionally used to keep blades sharp, could offer the solution: http://bbc.in/1liS2Jc

Fantastic concept even though if it does take off it will eventually put me out of a job

Fully autonomous driving has always been the goal of our project, because we think this could improve road safety and help lots of people who can't drive.

We're now developing prototypes of vehicles that have been designed from the ground up to drive themselves—just push a button and they'll take you where you want to go! We'll use these vehicles to test our software and learn what it will really take to bring this technology into the world.

Well I've just tried to new #Calendar  app #Sunrise for #Android

I've got to be honest, I'm not impressed. At least from the point of view of someone that uses their calendar app to run both their personal and business schedule.

So the good stuff. It looks nice and clean with fresh iOS like graphics. I get the impression this was initially built for iOS then ported to android. It reminds me a little of the iPhone stock calendar but reworked to make it usable (I always hated the stock iPhone calendar as it was in all honestly for me, crap... for want of a better word).
It has options to plug into Google and iCloud calendars with exchange sync on the way. And it can sync to it's own web access service making it easy to access from mobile device or PC/Mac. I've not tested the web app though so can't vouch for this as the app didn't sell itself well enough for me to get this far.
It has a month/agenda/day view rolled together as shown from the attached screen shot and a week view that is scrollable and shows 3 days at a time (like a portrait version of the iPhone week view). The month agenda is quite nice but the days at the top only allow you to jump to a day in the below agenda which then expands back up to the default position showing two weeks of the month. Drag this back down to see the full scrollable month. It's a shame they didn't at least add coloured dots to represent events from your different calendars so you could get an idea of how busy each day is.
The day/agenda part is clear and easy to read and the current day divides itself to morning, afternoon and evening. I liked that. It's different and a nice touch. The weather reports on today and tomorrow are something I'm not excited about as I prefer a separate solid weather app to rely on.

So those are the good points. Bad points, event creation is quite generic except it has added in Google search as part of the address entry. Great if meeting at a public place, crap it meeting a client at their address from you contacts list as there is no way to link contacts. Now for me, contact linking is essential otherwise the app isn't worth my time. Lots of calendars like Google's stock calendar app, Business Cal, Calengoo and aCalendar to name my favourites offer this and for it to be a stock feature it clearly isn't a big ask.
You can only default event notification times with the usual increments in settings. No choice for default event duration (Business Cal and Calengoo offer this) and no options to tweak much else for that matter, not even a choice of default calendar.
The week view not actually being a week view (limited to 3 days scrollable as mentioned above) is always quite poor. It only allows you to see from 9am-5pm as well without scrolling up or down. It didn't appear to allow you to adjust the zoom either which is a shame. Business Cal is the best here. Swipe in the month view across days to select between 1-14 days for your week view. then you get a real graphical bar view... that's how to do it!

So overall, it's not a bad starting point but it's got a long way to go to make it more than just a pretty personal social calendar. And honestly I think Cal by Any.do is better looking and marginally more functional than this for just personal social use. Granted I didn't spend at all long with Sunrise but that is simply because it doesn't offer even as much functionality as they stock Google calendar app. Probably one to watch to see if they develop this further though.
