Confirmed: Nasty Heartbleed bug exposes OpenVPN private keys, too

"Private encryption keys have been successfully extracted multiple times from a virtual private network server running the widely used OpenVPN application with a vulnerable version of OpenSSL, adding yet more urgency to the call for operators to fully protect their systems against the catastrophic Heartbleed bug."
Until you get a new key, consider your OpenSSL-powered VPN network compromised.

Mounties always get their man: Heartbleed 'hacker', 19, CUFFED

"Solis-Reyes is alleged to have exploited the Heartbleed vulnerability, present in OpenSSL running on the CRA's servers, to swipe 900 social insurance numbers. The CRA believes that whoever hacked the systems gathered the sensitive information during a six-hour window on April 9, which was after the first public reports of the flaw and before the computers were patched."

"Arts and crafts retail chain Michaels Stores said Thursday that two separate security breaches at point-of-sale terminals last year at its US stores and Aaron Brothers subsidiary may have exposed nearly 3 million credit and payment cards."
Arts and crafts retail chain says malware at its point-of-sale terminals impacted 2.6 million cards, as well as another 400,000 at Aaron Brothers subsidiary.

Virgin Media newsletter snowballs, burying customers with unwanted emails

"Even though it doesn’t appear as anyone abused the screwup maliciously, it clearly was a nuisance for people on the list as they would have received hundreds of messages in their inbox, effectively drowning out their legitimate mail."
Subscribers to Virgin Media's mailing list vented their anger after they were bombarded with hundreds and hundreds of unwanted messages yesterday, drowning out legitimate email.

Hardware Giant LaCie Acknowledges Year-Long Credit Card Breach

"Computer hard drive maker LaCie has acknowledged that a hacker break-in at its online store exposed credit card numbers and contact information on customers for the better part of the past year. The disclosure comes almost a month after the breach was first disclosed by KrebsOnSecurity."
