Introduction
Married to an American man, we lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin for 16 years, where our two children were born. We moved back to Brazil in 2007. Took the Teacher's Development Course at Casa Thomas Jefferson and met some wonderful people. Worked at CTJ for a year and learned a ton of new stuff. Truly enjoyed working at CTJ and meeting so many beautiful, intelligent people. Now, my husband and I are back in the States to be closer to our children who are going to college. Love life, but most of all, I love God!

Middle of the night revelations:

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night. Started to pray and praise the Lord. Started to think of God’s goodness and loving kindness towards us. I was wowed! I was in awe! I couldn’t go back to sleep as fast as I wanted
.
Then, the Lord gave me a great revelation. Based on Isaiah 1:18, where He says that He will make us “whiter than snow”, I thought, God blesses us again and again. Little blessings, big blessings, overwhelming blessings.

Little blessings: a snow flake – beautiful, perfectly white, uniquely shaped, millions of them fall and each one is unique!

Big blessings: we don’t lack anything. Specially we, who live in affluent America. We do not lack ANYTHING. And He continues to pour his material blessings on us, daily. From food items that are given to us all the way to a nice car to drive. He continues to amaze us!

Overwhelming blessings: the spiritual blessings, salvation, the presence of the Holy Spirit in us, the revelations that make old, ordinary things become extraordinary. What an EXTRAORDINARY GOD! What an AWESOME GOD we serve and love!

Nothing is new, yet, everything is new. This Week 3 is about "remembering" what we already knew and adding to our "store box" more stuff, with the aid of "memory" which will glue everything together, IF I continue to use IT.

It just reminded me of how I should take the first 5 to 10 minutes of each class to "refresh" what we saw the previous class. That makes a big difference on helping students commit to memory all our "important" teaching, right?

It also made me reflect on what a poor job I have been doing with that! :( But, I have hopes of making it better next time I teach. Ha :)

Blessings to all on this first day of February. Time flies when we are having fun!

I am finally wrapping up my learning experience at the Neuroscience in Education EVO.
After 5 weeks of studying, reading, watching videos on the "brain" I believe my brain has learned new ways within its own ins and outs. I have been "stretched" on my ability to retain information. I have also felt very alive and healthy. It's been a great experience to get to know people from all over the world who have the same interest as I do in teaching English. Thank you all, so much, for doing this with me.

"For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,"
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand-
when I awak, I am still with you.

If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from  me, you sho are bloodthirsty!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

My final reflections for Week 2 of the Neuroscience in Education EVO:
The best word to describe how I feel right now is WOW! Amazing brains we have! Amazing GOD who created our brains! The more we learn, the less we know. But, the little more we know should help us teach more effectively.
Also, learning about the brain, helps me know myself. If I know myself a little more, it will help me on my relationships with others, especiallly with my students.
I have been WOWED this week. I continue to be in AWE of an awesome God! Blessings on all!

Hello, Marineide. I really liked your reflections - esp. when you said that the more we know about ourselves the more able we will be to help our learners. It's really true!
