OLED Raises FPD to a New Technology Level with H.C. Starck’s Sputtering Targets
NEWTON, Mass., USA, March 19, 2012 – Innovative thinking creates a sharp and brilliant vision for the future with OLED technology. The rapid growth of OLED screens in the flat panel display (FPD) industry punctuates the increased need for high tech materials.

With the majority of FPD production taking place in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China, H.C. Starck is a leading, vertically-integrated supplier of molybdenum planar and rotary sputtering targets for thin film sputtering applications in Asia.

Developing higher resolution and reduced energy consumption in flat panel displays requires higher target integrity to achieve cost savings though enhanced material utilization. H.C. Starck’s Gen 4.5 and above molybdenum sputtering targets are paving the way with higher deposition efficiencies, and proven capability to deliver high density (>99.5%) and high purity (>99.95%) planar targets as large as 14mm x 1580mm x 1950mm and rotary targets greater that 2700mm long.

With these developments, a local presence coupled with global reach is critical to efficiently meet the increasing demand for sputtering targets. With over 30 locations worldwide including Asia, Europe, and the U.S., H.C. Starck offers local and direct Sales and Technical support to its customers.

H.C. Starck is pleased to exhibit at this year’s FPD China 2012, 20-22 March, Shanghai New International Expo Center in China, Booth E1-1155. Visit with our experienced technical staff to learn how our leading-edge products and technical support could contribute to your success in competitive FPD and innovative OLED industries.

”We are excited about the recent industry developments in FPD,” says Dmitry Shashkov, President and CEO of H.C. Starck’s Fabricated Products business segment. “New technologies such as ultra-high resolution displays and OLED, demand different performance levels from all display materials and components. As metals and sputtering target specialist, H. C. Starck can offer our expertise to the FPD customers to help them drive both system performance and cost.”

H.C. Starck manufactures custom rotary and planar sputter targets from its core competency materials: molybdenum (Mo), tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and tungsten (W) and their alloys.
