Yes, it seems okay. I did find one bug I'm logging now. Not sure the cause right now, but it's a minor issue.

Progress update:

If it looks like things have been slow, well, it just that progress was happening behind the scenes to make this the best MAL application on Android. Here is what's been going on:

+Ratan Dhawtal and I have been working on building a new API interface. Since the inception of Atarashii!, we have been using the great unofficial API by Chu Yeow. It's served us well, but if we want more features, we'd have to start expanding on it. Since we didn't really know Ruby, we decided to build our own API in PHP using Symfony. Both of us have been testing it extensively with a custom build of Atarashii! and making sure it's fast and stable. We've been able to add in extra features like lists of friends, top/popular/upcoming manga, and a few other nice things in a short time and look forward to adding even more stuff!

Another contributor to the application, d-sko (sorry, I don't know the G+ name) has been working since late October on moving our application to use the wonderful Retrofit REST client library by +Square, moving us away from the original clunky parsing we were doing before. This should help eliminate many of the errors Atarashii! was having during list updates and syncing.

Additionally, we've also moved to using the Picasso image downloading and caching library (also by +Square) for cover image handling.

The addition of these libraries means we can build on the work of the community with well-used and solid components and concentrate on making Atarashii! really awesome.

I don't currently have a timeline for a beta release with all these goodies, but it will probably be in the first half of the year. A lot of stuff has changed, so all the developers will be doing some extensive testing before pushing a new build on the market. If you are brave, you can always try building from our GitHub repository and filing bugs there.

Do expect some small bugfixes and small features to be released in both stable and beta soon. A fix for broken searching with accented and foreign characters has landed, and Picasso support is stable enough to put in a beta.

It shouldn't be hard to provide a sample apk for direct download. I'd personally prefer not to use the beta functionality in the store as anything like what you'd want has the possibility to be massively unstable and not something you would want automatically updating.

Hi everyone! Long time no post, we aren't dead!

Just wanted to give an update on the current situation. It appears that the current downtime was caused by MAL itself. They're changing API access to be whitelist only. We are working to get on said whitelist already though.

Following that, we're currently working on changes to make Atarashii! far more reliable. This should be the last outage. Hopefully.

So yeah. In short things are happening. Thanks everyone for toughing it out with us :)

After stalling long enough, I'd like to announce that 1.3 is finally being released to the stable channel! New in this release is obviously Search & Add, directly from the app! We've also changed around many many thingy internally to be more efficient, more things aren't broken. More things aren't terribad on Android 2.2/3. More things works when you don't have a connection. More things everything.

Basically, it's the release almost 2000 users of the stable channel have been waiting for. That's incredible. Thank you guys.

Look for it going out later today!

Fixed that visual bug regarding taps not updating the rating text. Was like 3 lines of code.

Also, delaying that beta juuust a bit as we throw just a bit more polish on it.

Atarashii! In Your Language

Just a quick update on what's going on for you all. In addition to all the changes and optimizations all over the place, we want to localize Atarashii! into your native language!

However, most of us don't know languages other than English, so that's where you guys can help out!

We've set up a crowd sourcing translation thing where anyone can pitch in and help translate, no coding knowledge required. If your language isn't already listed, leave a comment and we'll get it added.

So yeah, if you're interested, take a stab at it <3

I hope everyone knows this by now, but MAL is currently dead due to a DDoS. Which is making Atarashii! crash.

Gomenasai! Out of my hands though.
