“Imperfections are not inadequacies; they are reminders that we're all in this together.”
- Brene Brown

Some would look upon this flower and see only the imperfections. But for me, the worn and tattered petals tell a story that only proves to enhance the inner beauty that radiates outward. This inner beauty shines so brightly that it makes everything around it more vibrant and alive with energy. Those so called imperfections, they give this flower character and set it apart from any other. Which in my book, makes it a one of a kind treasure. And that is how we should see everything & everyone... perfectly imperfect. You are uniquely you, and that is why I love you. Yes, you!

Life is Buggy
One day life is happy & beautiful...
The next day, the universe lands a bug smack dab in the middle of it all!

Bugs come in all shapes and sizes, and none of us are immune to them. It's how we choose to deal with them that really counts. Do we let that bug dissect our lives and make us think we need to divide and eliminate in order to conquer? Or do we dissect the bug, see what it's made of, and realize it isn't as scary as we thought? Most bugs aren't.

The B&W Project
Week 13/26: Shallow Depth of Field
#BWProject26 | Me, +Brandon Luk, +Lauri Novak, & +Al Chris

Depth of field can be such a fun aspect of photography to play around with, so of course I had to make it one of the assignments for this year's B&W project. And of course, I've been crazy busy with life and such, and waited until the last minute to shoot anything. Also, it's been super rainy here, so getting out to shoot hasn't been on my list of priorities. Anyway...

How do you pronounce Caramel?

Another fun little poll. Do you pronounce Caramel by clearly using both a sounds like cara-mel or do you pronounce it like a women's name by only using one of the a's like car-mel?

+Brandon Luk and I both agree that cara-mel is the correct way, but what say you?

Stars of Fire

“Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.”
- William Shakespeare: Hamlet

Here's an image I captured last weekend at a nursery in Barrie, Ontario. They had quite a selection, and I took quite a few shots, but this one is my favorite. The warmth and detail make me think of love. It just makes me happy to gaze upon this image, and remember. So, I thought I'd share it with you. Enjoy!

Mae's Lily
Meeting His Mother
Nerves & Hugs & Gardens, oh my!

Recently I had the privilege to be taken home to meet his mother. That's something I haven't had to do in so long, and I was so completely nervous. Just ask +Brandon Luk and he'll tell you, I was wigging out. Does anyone use that term anymore? I mean how old does that make me? Anyway, I digress... I was taken to the absolutely adorable town of Kingston, Ontario and walked up the sidewalk to the second of his childhood homes, where he rang the doorbell, and I waited...

Losing My Head
The Greek Goddess Effect

Yesterday I went on a photowalk with some fellow G+ers, well ok it rained us out so really we went on a museum stroll, but anyway... we got together to shoot things, and shoot things we did. We moved our outing indoors to the ROM, and I happened upon this lovely lady in the busts section and felt she and I had something in common...

Introduction

About Me:

Photography is my passion and has been since I was old enough to hold a camera. I gravitate towards B&W photography because there is a simple, elegant, and clean feel to it. B&W eliminates the chaos and allows the viewer to concentrate on the subject without distraction. That's why I love it.

I shoot with a Nikon D750, but I'm finding myself taking photos with my phone more often these days, and enjoying it equally. As long as I'm capturing special moments to preserve and have always, I'm happy, no matter the tool I use to achieve it.

Places you can find me on G+:

The B&W Project : I host The B&W Project, which is bi-weekly B&W photo project.

I curate the whenever theme #TeaTime w/Tisha, as well as co-curate the whenever theme #FeetUpFriday w/Tom Tran.
