Today is National Hydration Day! Are you hydrating well?

If you aren't carrying a bottle of water around with you all day, you probably aren't drinking enough water. You've probably heard "Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day," and that is a good rule of thumb. Some people may need more than that, while others may need less. The Mayo Clinic recommends women drink 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) per day. #hydrate #nationalhydrationday2018 #water

Up to 80% of us are “chest breathers” and are not getting enough oxygen into our bodies. This causes tension in the neck and shoulders. The good news is, if we consciously bring awareness to our breathing, all of this can be fixed! Here is an easy deep-breathing practice that I’m challenging you to do every day this week! Try this: Sit comfortably and straighten your back. Deeply breathe in air through your nose and hold your breath for a few seconds. Exhale through your mouth slowly, pushing out as much air as you can. Continue to breathe in and out like that for a few minutes and try to relax as much as possible. Concentrate of your breathing only. This practice is especially great in the morning to help wake up your body. (But it’s also good at any time of the day!)

Cooking doesn't have to be complicated. I get overwhelmed when I see recipes that are long or have a lot of ingredients and/or steps. Eating out frequently isn't the answer, neither is eating processed foods. I like to focus on keeping simple ingredients on hand to easily combine into a meal. Here's a good example from dinner tonight - boneless pork chop, brown rice, and frozen peas. Took less than 20 minutes from start to finish by using frozen rice/peas. Come learn how in our FabFit Nutrition Guidance Class tomorrow (6/21) at 6:55 PM. We still have a couple of spots available! Sign-up here: PS - used code FIRSTJUNEFREE if you've never attended a class with us as your first class is always free.

Have you started and stopped exercising more times than you can count over the years? I know I have. I always had these grand plans of how this was going to be my year...I finally found the exercise program that was going to be "the one" only to quit shortly after I started. There were some times I only did one workout. Another time I joined the community center and after going to get my ID picture, I never went back.

I was an all or nothing girl, so the idea of not following a plan the way it was meant to be followed overwhelmed me. When I'm overwhelmed I tend to give up. Then I move on to the shame, embarrassment, and negative self-talk. It really is a vicious cycle.

In 2008 something clicked inside of me and I began to workout consistently. I found the exercise(s) that work best for me and still work out 4-6 times/week. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years!

My mission is to help women of any size become consistent in fitness. I finally realized that exercise wasn't a means to an end. There was no magic number on the scale or on the tag of my pants. I realized that exercise not only made me feel better, but was good for my overall health, too. My goal is to help other women realize the same thing and help them build a routine that leads to consistency.

If you need help figuring things out...exercise, food, etc, we have a Facebook group full of women just like you that offer each other support, inspiration, etc with all of the above. We'd love for you to join us! Follow the link below.

Oh, how I love this yoga pose! Viparita Karani aka Legs Up the Wall is great for relieving tired, achy legs, stretching the legs and lower back, and a number of other things. Sometimes my feet tingle while I'm doing this and I bend my legs a little to help alleviate that. If you'd like to read more about this pose you can do so here:
