I am a 45 year old former high school drop out with a GED. I was born and raised in the heart of Miami, Florida. After dropping out of high school my senior year in 1988, I eventually went back to obtain my GED 4 tears later in 1992; after a few trials and tribulations of course. I started working in law enforcement in 1993 until approximately 2006 and successfully ran my own private investigative and security firm until returning to college for a second time in an effort to obtain my degree in 2009 at Claflin University at the ripe age of 43. I managed to graduate with a 3.91 with honors in May of 2012 in 3 years instead of four. I am currently two years into law school, in which I had to take a medical leave from to get my health back together. I sincerely hope to petition a few law schools in the near future to return and complete my last year and a semester of law school and eventually start working in the public sector serving those communities that are serverely under served.

I hope to inspire others by sharing my testimony of my experiences from the time in which I dropped out of high school up until the present. I believe that it is important for me as well as others to share the good, bad and the ugly about our experiences on our journey to success, and not just discuss the things that we are comfortable with discussing. We would not want people to have the foolish belief that we just came straight from the womb and miraculously catapulted to success. In fact, I believe that success, is something that we never really reach until our last breath, because as long as you are living it is something you should forever strive for; there is always room for improvement.

Some have asked why I chose to be so intimate and detailed about the things I share with you all in this book, and I in turn ask them; supposed the characters in the Bible were not so intimate and detailed about their experiences, good or bad? Before they can answer, I explain to them, that if the Biblical characters had not shared their experiences with us, most of us would be lost with no guidance in how to navigate through this journey called life. No, I do not intend to compare myself to Biblical characters, however, I feel that we are in some ways obligated to share our testimony as well and maybe mitigate some of the headaches of those that follow in our footsteps on their way to eventual success. People can not only learn from your mistakes, but they can also learn from the right things you may have done on your way to success as well.

Finally, the best part about sharing your experiences, is that nothing that you have achieved or accomplished in life is actually all about you; without God none of it would have been possible. In other words, in your works, the good and the bad, it should have all been for God's glory. People need to be able to look at you and know where you were and how far God has brought you. This allows people to have hope, when they can say "Hey, I remember when that person was doing bad and facing hard time; if God can bring him through all of that, then I know he can do the same for me. Be that light in someone's life today and share your experiences as well.

Incredible Story of Perseverance

Initially, I was skeptical about paying this price for such a short book. But, once I read it, I quickly realized that it was worth its weight in digital gold. The author tackles deeply personal issues and satiates the reader with mental images of triumph in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Still, all of the book is not heavy, as the author also captivates the reader with humor in the unlikeliest of places. JC allows the reader to laugh at himself, yet reflect on one's life choices. It is refreshing to know that anyone can have a Cinderella story with a happy ending. I would definitely recommend this book to others. However, I would highly encourage the author to continue writing and ultimately deliver the unabridged version of the book. I'm sure that between the lines, there are several hundred pages of his story that have yet to be told.
