I've lived in the neighborhood for 5 years and have had delivery from all the usual suspects multiple times. Hunan Delight is consistently better than the others.

I have been to my fair share of Michelin-starred restaurants and the meal I had at Alkimia was easily among the very best I have ever had.

They will probably have those organic and/or specialty products you can't find across the street at the Key Foods, or across one ave at the MET. They have a great selection of quality produce. They also have quality fresh fish. However, the prices are very high. For even non-perishable items you CAN find across the street, expect to pay 20-50% more than at a regular grocery.

I’ve been here twice and have had 2 noodle dishes, the pork burger and the spicy soft tofu. Positives first. The noodles themselves are quite good. They have a pleasant firm texture and were cooked well both times. The meats have also been tender and, if you like cumin, was spiced well. The huge downside is that everything I have ordered has been completely smothered, nay, submerged, in flavorless oil. Even the meat in the pork burger was oozing oil. The “sauce” on the noodles is at least 75% oil that has a faint sesame flavor. It forms an unappetizing puddle that covers the entire plate. I spent some time trying to figure out ways to get at the spices hiding under the ooze, but was unsuccessful. My “spicy” soft tofu was, as far as I could tell, plain tofu ladled into a bowl with oil poured over it. It was not spicy or flavorful and each spoonful was 50% flavorless red oil. Nasty.
