Osteoporosis: Risks and Prevention

Osteoporosis is a disease condition that affects the bones. As we grow older, our bones become fragile causing it to break easily.

In our country alone, there are so many people who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. You too can be at risk of it, no matter how old or young you are, especially if you don't know how to care for your bones.

Who are at risk?
1. Older adults
2. Those who have a family history
3. Those taking certain medicines
4. Asians and white people
5. Thin and small body built
6. Low bone density

If you want to prevent osteoporosis, here are some ways you can do:

1. Make your bones as strong as possible through the kinds of food you eat
2. Make sure your diet is rich in vitamin D and calcium. Calcium makes the bones stronger while Vitamin D helps the body absorb more calcium
3. Have a good lifestyle - Don't smoke or drink excessive alcohol
4. Exercise regularly
5. Talk to your doctor to know if there are medicines you need to take
6. Avoid falls and slips as much as possible. Falls can fracture bones, especially among older adults.

4 Factors That Can Cause Memory Loss

There are different factors that can cause memory loss. These factors can affect the learning, thinking and remembering process of the brain. Many doctors try to do their best to cure these people with memory problems by combining different strategies to test mental ability and perform series of examinations. Here are the factors that can cause memory loss.

You need to be careful with the type of medication you take, especially over-the-counter medications or those meds that you can buy in the drugstore without prescription.

Excessive alcohol drinking

When you always drink too much alcohol, it can cause vitamin B12 deficiency or thiamine deficiency which is harmful to your memory. Aside from that, the chemicals in alcohol can change the chemicals in your brain, leading to memory loss.

When you don't know how to manage stress or you are always stressed out, there is a tendency to experience emotional trauma which can also make you forget about basic information.

When you are depressed, you tend to lack focus which can also affect your memory. If depression is the root, usually doctors would recommend proper intervention to improve your mood and correct the memory problems.
